anyone ever used one of the remote control fox callers that you can put out in the middle of the field and operate from here you're hiding?
i was looking at a u-caller model in stakelums in thurles yesterday for €120.
it comes with a usb cable so you can download sounds off the internet

I've used the Mini Colibri/Technoest/Callmaster remote controlled one, find it very good indeed but the aerials are quite fragile.

the one i was looking at looked fairly rugged. i just like the idea of the fox's attention being drawn away from me so i don't have to worry as much about him seeing.
i was thinking if i had one of those balls with the furry tail that moves around out in the field beside the caller, that the fox would be focused on the movement of that

hey there remember the craze of remote controlled air planes and cars years ago that u built urself. i had a few knocking about at home . and like u said was sick of a fox creeping up on me when using a caller.. made up a small timber box with the reciever and servos in it. using an electronic caller i used the one servo arm to turn it on or off. and the other to shake a skin of a rabbit wrapped round a wire cage bout same size as rabbit. its nothing too fancy but it definatley does its job. had great results with it. also brilliant for magpies they just cant stay away for it and never notice the guy 150yards away in a ditch with a rifle ...ill get the camera out and put up some pics...but my answer is yes they definately work

You could also get a cheap phone with generous memory for downloaded calls and just place it wherever you wish in a bag maybe if raining. Call the phone whenever you want, as good as a remote;) Relatively loud also. Or put it in a small open steel box to amplify the sound but there is no need usually.

I have the U caller that the OP is talking about and cannot recommend them enough! Got if off ebay for just over 90 euro tho!;)

Never used the remote for calling foxes YET but have tested it out to see if it works reliably at range (100m) and I cant fault it!

One down side to this caller is that when in use there is a flashing led on it but could be easily covered.

I found the rabbit and hare sounds work well, never tried the barks! I'm gonna start looking around for a few deer calls now to put on it once the rut is in.

Did you use it for birds yet?the magpie call is very effective ;)

Just be carefull pat I'm fairly sure it's illegal to use electronic calls for any type of "Game" shooting.

A reed blow thingie AFAIK is ok,deffo no electronic devices on GAME. I have one of those reed yokes, never used it. Only supposed to be of any use in the rut.

Just one more thing to be messing with:D
