Help Required Setting Up TV

I`ve been reading this board for a while and gained valuable info on all things tv wise. Thanks for that.
I own a Sanyo CE 32LD81-B TV. Always watched RTE via Sky but due to financial constraints I want to cancel Sky.
Tried retuning TV on Analogue. Nothing. On digital it picks up Freeview in the north and RTE test transmissions. Unable to view due to MPEG 4.
Aerial is connected and works with old portable TV.
Could the TV when scanning for transmissions be scanning the wrong frequencys ???
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Some options for you.

Does the portable TV work with that co-ax plug attached? Do you get all 4 Irish analogue channels on the portable?

Does the aerial loop-thru the Sky receiver? Try connecting the aerial input directly to the TV bypassing the Sky box, VCR etc.

Do a first time installation with Ireland as the country setting, after you install the digital channels a message will ask if you want to search for analogue channels.

    Good luck.
