Handbreak cable rubbing against tyre

I heard this tick tick tick noise when I was driving to work coming from the back left wheel I pulled over and looked underneath to find that the bracket holding the handbreak cable had broke and was rubbing against the tyre.

Have it held back with a cable tie at the mo.

Does anyone have a rough idea how much the brackets are to replace?

    Thanks

    Depends on the car.;)

It's not the kind of question you're likely to get answered without seeing the car - why not just bring it to a mechanic and ask?

    Agreed.

p.s. I realise this isn't an English or spelling forum, but isn't it amazing the number of peeps who can't spell "brake".

You're right it isn't a spelling forum.

Will bring to mechanic.....just wondering if people had similar problems.

You're right - it's a motors forum where people will at least tell you what car it is.

Depending on the set-up a cable tie might work grand. This is probably a temp fix, best to get a bracket sorted. Price the part from the dealer would probably be quite cheap, or you could probably make up something simple to do the same job.

Good aul cable ties, what would we do without 'em?

I'd be more than happy with a cable tie also so long as it doesn't kink the cable excessively.

    Brackets cost approximately twelfty :D
It's amazing how many people come on here asking for anonymous internet strangers to price repair/maintenance jobs.
If the cable tie does the trick, then leave it be.
Otherwise, go to a garage and get a quote.
