Hey, i was just wondering do many of you guys wear shemagh's when going for a skirmish? If yes, Why? and if no, Why?

I personally wear a shemagh because i find them so useful, i just put it for my lower face not all around, what about you?

Yep, I do, mostly cause it takes the sting out of a face/neck hit without limiting breathing, or visibility, and isn't as hot as a balaclava.

When I'm out in the open, I would just wear it round the neck, but when I am going CQB I would wear it full whack to cover the face and head.

    Also, they look pretty savage:D

i agree they also are a great way to camoflauge the neck

i wear it sometimes only around my neck and up to my mouth to protect the teeth. not a fan of the full head wrap.

I find them to be extremely versatile. I will wear one in the traditional style (full head and face) at times, then during the game, change to half face or just round my neck.

Sometimes I have even used it to shroud my rifle.

The full head style is great for having your head and face covered but with the flexibility to uncover and quickly recover your face without removing your eye covering (very bad idea) or your head covering.

All in all a very useful bit of kit.

I have been meaning to buy one, i think they are great.

I theme my attire on middle eastern terrorist look(Hamas) and i am going to get one to match.

I am suprised how popular they are.

Its not just middle-eastern people that wear them

They are one veristile piece of kit. They are great for protecting the face from bb impacts but also other things, such as (already said) camo for your rifle and your face, and even a sling if (real world spaeking here) you broke or fractured your arm. :)

As you said it completes the look, i think they are great and never leave home for a skirmish without them

Handy for cleaning your mask after games, Wiping sweat away, Protecting the neck.

Think ive only used one once. Not for me really. I find they come loose fairly easily. But I like the amount of things the can be used for, like booby traps :D

It all depends how you tie them brother.Tie them in the traditional way and there is no way they can come loose.

Yea i find i the military tie up is the best for me fold it across like a triangle, then wrap it around the neck, i can put it up to my nose then when i need

This is the basic method I used.

I now use a modified version of this due to fogging.

    Bit of an odd question but here it goes;

If I was to wrap mine like Vents has suggested, the traditional way, would that stop a BB breaking a tooth? Over my 18 years I've grown rather attatched to my teeth and would hate to be the 1% or whatever it is that has a tooth chipped for the sake of weekend skirmish.

    not a chance,unless its multi layerd,its only a thin fabric,best off with
a lower face mask.tbh it will only save you if you wrap it up say 4,5 times
    to take the impact,imo
plus lower face mask does'nt make you sweat like a s.o.a.b

You have to remeber its not the force of the BB that will break a tooth. Its the two hard services making contact. The Shmegh will lessen the impact. You will still feel it though. Remember this is just from my experience.

I wear one to protect my teeth but I wouldn't rely solely on it, I tend to keep my gob closed behind it just in case:pac:

Ah fair enough - Cheers for that. Is it just 1 Shemagh used for the full head and face wrap btw? Think I might just buy one :D

Make sure sci-ops wears a full face mask if he's ever on the same site as Merry Despot! :P

the shemagh is also very good protection against getting hit in the very painful spot, the adams apple,
