Computer dead PSU gone?

    Hi,

Input appreciated. Arrived home today to find my circa 1yr old pre build from OcUK dead. Pretty sure I had left it on this morning. It won't start up. I am wondering if something happened with the electrics in the apartment as an electric clock which was on the same extension lead had reset (Power surge?)

I tried without the extension lead and on a different socket. I see no consistent light on the motherboard. When hitting the power button I got a very brief flash of light on the motherboard and a fraction of a second spinning of the fans. Tried another power lead also just in case and had the same issue.

So I'm wondering what is the likely issue. Is it the psu or the mb gone? I've no problem picking up a psu from the local retailer tomorrow if that is the issue and replacing it. I would not be happy doing the mb. At the same time I don't want to buy a psu if its not the issue.

    Appreciate your input.

    Regards,

    Woden

Had the exact same issue, sounds like the PSU alright. Can you get a spare one to try? What watt do you need?

Most shops offer money-back guarantees, even online stores have a 7 day cooling off period. I confirmed with Komplett that I could return a PSU I wasn't sure would fit my case and it was fine with them.

To be honest it does sound like the PSU

Thanks for the feedback Tallon. Its a 650w corsair in it. Its powerng an i7 and 4870 so I don't think that much is required.

I'm in stockholm though and there is no one around with a spare to try but I could pick up something locally no problem

sounds like dead PSU. Maybe pick up surge protector whilst you are at it. Might save you in future.
