Youth 2000 too 'conservative'

Interesting article from The Irish Catholic by Andrew O'Connell:
Youth 2000 and its relationship with the Church reminds me of the typical experience of a newly-founded religious order. These new groups are usually enthusiastic for a particular mission. Enthusiasm is Youth 2000's hallmark. However, because they are not part of the formal structure of the Church they tend to be regarded with suspicion by some, particularly some clergy.

It's not uncommon to hear priests suggesting that Youth 2000 is too conservative. This impression arises largely from the fact that the cornerstones of their spirituality are the Eucharist and the rosary. Have we really reached a stage where adoration and the rosary, two great traditions of our faith, mark one out as being ''conservative''? Or perhaps what we're really dealing with here is a form of spiritual snobbery.

A priest said that to my face once! Youth 2000 is a good organisation and does a lot of work, but I can say that I have experienced the attitudes from a priest that this writer highlights.
