Just to let everyone know that Colgate will refund anyone 65 euro who has exam/scale polish in September/October/November.

I understand that you have to buy some colgate brushes and toothpaste as a condition of this offer.

Anyone confirm this/ provide fuller information?

I think it only applies to Sept?

first you buy the products from your local store (it's a special package- 2 toothbrushes, 1 toothpaste, 1 bottle Plax mouthwash), keep the receipt, then visit dentist for exam/clean, get receipt for that and then send both receipts to Colgate and they will give you 65euro refund.

You have to get the products on or before the day of your dental visit.

The promotion will probably be well advertised in the next couple weeks. Sounds like a good deal. (the only thing that people may not want is the mouthwash, but if you are a mouthwash fan Plax is a good one)

it is a great deal. I had to read it a few times to confirm it is true! Part of oral health month as we all know September is!

Might even get it done me self

Yeah its a great deal i'm a dental hygienist and telling all my patients about it. you first have to purchase colgate products: 1: 500ml mouthwash, 1: 100ml toothpaste and 2 colgate 360' toothbrushes. Must be purchased between september 1st and 30th. Keep receipt. you have until novemeber to get your scale and polish. Send receipt of your S&P along with receipt for products, with a colgate claim form before Feb 2011 and you'll be refunded up to the value of 65euro!

There doesnt seem to be any information on this on colgates website, are they just advertisinig it through practices? Where can you get the claim form?

Is a S&P what you would get on a visit to any Hygienist i.e a professional clean? Ta.

    Sounds good.

Is a scale and polish essentially a regular check-up?

How much are the 360 brushes?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,927 ✭✭✭georgieporgy

S&P means scale and polish (=cleaning)

the usual checkup visit includes examination + scale & polish

fee for exam is approx 30/40euro and is covered by prsi and medical card (for folks in those programs)

cleaning fee can vary from 50-100euro.

the colgate offer is 'up to' 65euro refund of your dental visit expense.

    a 360 tooth brush costs about 2.50.

the total colgate purchase required for this offer costs approx 17 euro. (2 toothbrushes+ 1 toothpaste+ 1 mouthwash)

I am also wondering about this, on the page linked in the OP none of the links work, it just seems a bit strange, why can i not find any other info on this other than on that page (which i cannot find on the colgate website...)

sorry for being curious, I hope I am wrong!

yes, i had the link from the first post but my point is that you cannot find it throught the colgate website and all links on the page (when you open your link) do not work except for the colgate ireland link, it just seems strange to me!

Just to be clear what is being offered, it in the Terms and Conditions it clearly states checkup OR scale and polish. Does that mean you need to fund the checkup yourself and get refunded the S&P or vice-versa?

Anyone know how much a checkup without S&P costs?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,604 ✭✭✭xOxSinéadxOx

so can you go to any dentist, yes?

so can you go to any dentist, yes?

Yes you can go to any dentist and get refunded afterwards as long as you meet all of the T&Cs.

However my usual dentist visit involves a checkup followed by a Scale and Polish, this used to be free under the old PRSI scheme. The T&Cs state that a Checkup OR Scale and Polish would be refunded, so it is not clear to me if my typical visit would be covered.

I think the offer is over.

Thanks for the Claim form! I was in the same predicament. The offer is closed insofar as you can't buy the oral care package. However, if you have bought the products you have until February to claim.

We rang them yesterday, Colgate have recieved 18,000 claim forms so far, it is more than they anticipated and will take a little bit longer to organise refunds, do not worry they are commited to the offer, you will recieve your refund.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 orlao

Thanks also from me for claim form, have just got around to looking for it to find it gone. I couldn't find an email address for them, and when trying to find something through the Irish site, it seemed to keep jumping back to the UK site - which has a comment form type of email to them, link below. http://www.colgate.co.uk/app/Colgate/UK/Corp/ContactUs/EmailUs.htm

I have rang them after 6 weeks of them sending my appliaction form. They told me it will be up to another 2 weeks, I think this is unacceptable, it did indicate on the terms and conditions to allow 28 days for delivery of the refund cheque. I brought to there attention that this was false advertising and they could be brought to small claims court. Tehy indicated they they got more applicants then they thought, I told them they should not have created the offer if they didn't have the relevant resources to deal with it. The person I was talking ot on the phone was not polite or not apologetic. I think this sting has gone agaonst them and persoanlly would not purchase colgate products after this.

    Welcome to boards!
With customers like this who'd want to work in customer service! Good luck in the small claims court, you might get about 2c of interest on the delayed payment :D

I got my S&P yesterday, only 40 euro. Not too pushed if I have to wait a few months to get it back as long as I do get it back. I also bought the items for my wife but the receipt was in my wallet for a few weeks and the crucial itemised portion of the receipt wore off to the extent that I doubt they will accept it :( Thinking about asking Tesco if they can reprint it from the code on the receipt.

Onewaybet I have worked in Customer Service before matey, and always was polite and corteous, in this instance I am only going by the Terms and Conditons that they wrote on the offer. As a consumer I have a right to follow up on that.

But just to follow up, I recieved a phone call from Colgate and they indicated that my refund cheque will be sent out in the post today.

You have to remember that they had a clause in the Trms & Conditions that you only had 1 month re submit the application from the origianal date it there was an error. So I wanted to make sure that there was no error in my application

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 318 ✭✭OneWayBet

Great to hear they have started payout out.
Slight correction on the terms, I think the 1 month condition refers to resubmission which I presume would be required if there was an error in the application? Looks like we have until 15th Feb to send the claim.

    • The promotion begins on 1st September 2010.
    • Participants must have their check up or scale and polish at their preferred dentist in the Republic Of Ireland no later than 30th November 2010
    • The closing date for the receipt of applications is 15th February 2011. All entries after this date will be deemed invalid.
    • Consumers will have the opportunity to re-submit their application provided it is received within 1 month from the date of the original application

For God's sake, you are getting a cheque for €65 having bought €16 worth of goods you need anyway, can you give another example where you have gotten an offer like this before?, and you rang to give s**t to their customer service because it's a little late, what a prat. Because this has been such a good offer, there was a huge uptake so things are taking a little longer. This applies to every consumer item, if demand outstrips supply, there is a delay while supply catches up.

I think I can better that; know someone who refused to take up the offer as they claimed Colgate wasn't REALLY offering a 65euro refund, if you factored in the cost of the envelope and stamp. False advertising/unrealistic expectations?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 502 ✭✭✭sarah88

woohoo got my 65e refund today, I was a bit wary of this offer, i was thinking they might send me some voucher for collgate products but no got a 65e cheque:D it was well worth the wait!!:D

Glad to hear the cash has started to roll!
How much was your S&P? Mine was only 40 euro (excluding examination which was covered by PRSI). I went to my usual dentist in a Cork city centre location. There seems to be a huge differential in dentist fees.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 502 ✭✭✭sarah88

i think i paid 70e because saw the dental hygienist which is part of my usual dentist's surgery. jesus yeah there really is some difference in price:eek: you got a great bargin there!!

Basically I got the Dental Treatment within the allocated time and I purchased the specific requested products same way.

But unfortunately I have searched high and low for the Supermarket Till Receipt and guess what can't find it! I reckon I binned the wrong receipt accidentally, binning the one I needed with the Colgate stuff on it as I have other Receipt of Groceries which I bought the same day. But I was minding the wrong Receipt all along lol.

I wonder if I could get another copy of same Receipt from the Supermarket would it be acceptable? I must ring Colgate and see if there is any way they'd accept that .... :(

anyone else get refunds? I'm waiting 8 weeks. Is there a number to call to see what the status is?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,815 ✭✭✭imitation

I got told to get lost a couple of weeks ago, my problem was two fold, I brought the pack at my dentist, who just wrote "colgate dental pack, 17 euro" on a standard receipt. Secondly my dental receipt didn't specify what was performed.

Moral of the story, buy the stuff in tesco next year and get the dentist to specify what they did.

This is simple to rectify, ring your dentist, explain the situation and ask them to send out new reciepts. Colgate are fine with this.

We have gotten calls from patients and colgate about some of the applications for refunds, Colgate said the products had to be bought before the visit to the dentist, some people bought first but on the same day as appointment, Colgate have asked us to forward new recipts with a later treatment date, no problem, patients are getting their refunds.

As stated earlier this is one of those few times in life where you are getting something for nothing so have a little patience.

I got my cheque in the post on Monday - was beginning to get a bit worried as it has been about 3-4 months now but the 65euro is now safely lodged in my bank account I'm pleased to report!

I got a letter back from Colgate this morning saying they werent going to give me the refund because the items I bought were on special offer, which they werent! Im absolutely disgusted...what a load of rubbish! I actually went to boots first, seen they were on special offer and went to Tescos instead to get ones that werent on offer. Now Im in NZ and dont see the point in calling that stupid helpline number to be on hold for half the fricking day!

    F U Colgate!

I got my cheque today. It took a lot longer than I though it would but it got here in the end. Since I was going to buy the stuff anyways and I get regular check ups this really was free money for me.

    Nice one colgate.
