Apart from it being a bit slow to start up after being shut down I ahve had no issues with it and having applications running in the background is worth any small inconvienence imo

No probs here :) maybe it's true for some folk, can't reports that myself tbh. Apart from taking aaaagges to back up! But otherwise it's identical. And totally worth it for the multitasking. Dont know how I worked without it for so long!

I tried to update, is it normal for the back up to take over three hours?
I gave up, should the phone be off while updating??

Take all music media etc and apps off the phone and do upgrade then it will do back up then

restore phone from back up or as new phone then synch apps contacts etc

Don't know if anyone else has experienced it, but i had the dreaded "phone reboot during a call" issue - in the middle of a call - everything goes quiet, look at the phone - black screen and apple icon up.

Very annoying. What's worse is that it is a known issue and Apple haven't done anythign to fix it as of yet.

Anyways, restored as a new iPhone 2 nights ago and fingers crossed the apple of death hasn't appeared since.

I had serious problems with the battery and general app speed which set on about 2 weeks after I updated to iOS 4. However, after speaking with an app developer, he suggested that it could be because I was running the 3GS on a backup of my 2G iPhone which I had before, and which had been jailbroken. Sure enough, I restored my phone to factory defaults and it's working perfectly now. Selling it for 350 and my 4 should be here on the 1st!
