Replace bulb, or just buy a new projector?

I have a Sanyo PLV-Z3 projector. I bought it second hand from boards about 3 years ago for €900.

The bulb went about a year ago and am only going about replacing it now :o

The best price I have found on the internet is on projectorpoint.co.uk. It works out at approx €300 after you include tax/delivery and conversion rates. Obviously that's still pretty damn steep. Anyone know any cheaper options?

And on to the stickler..... due to the price, and the fact that the Z3 is only 720p, I am considering just upgrading to a 1080p projector instead.

There seems to be quite a selection of cheap 1080p Projectors on the market now and I could probably source one for under 1k.
So, the question is, are those cheap fully HD projectors worth the extra money I'd have to put in?
I mainly use the projector for gaming, rather than movies... so I'm sure it would increase the experience in that regard. My worry is that the cheaper options will be lacking in other areas etc...

    Any advice welcome.....

Okay, think I found the lamp on ebay being sold from USA for a better price.
Looks to be the same manufacturer number, so shouldn't be an issue. It's way cheaper, so even if it gets stopped by customs etc, I'll still make a decent saving.

With that in mind, I think I'll just go ahead an buy the lamp.

I bought the Optoma HD 200x from Komplett.ie for about €780 delivered and its a great job, good bit clearer than my old Benq w500. Worth the money imo!

How did you get on with that? I'm in the same position and want to fit a new lamp for the dark evenings (Optoma H30a), I did see the cheaper lamp only options on ebay but was a bit wary of them... How did it fit? Its it as good as original? Cheers.

Sorry, I didn't actually go ahead and buy it in the end. I got a bit worried about the seller. He has 98.5% positive feedback, but when reading the negative ones (a lot of which are recent) it didn't bode well. All about poor quality and bad customer service.

I'm just now going on the search again, so will let you know what I find.
