Mini TT1 & 7D

    Hi everyone
I was on a different post in the last few days about buying the Pocket wizards Mini & Flex so I eventually purchased them and I have been playing around with them. I have two cameras 40D & 7D & two flashes, 580EXII and 580EX. I can work the mini & flex with the 40D with either flash attached no problem, ie 1 flash mounted on mini+40D+and the other flash on the flex or just one flash (off camera) on the flex via the mini. The problem with the 7D is I cannot get the flash (either one) mounted on the mini to fire but it will fire on the flex via the mini off camera, when I press the test button on the mini the flash will fire while mounted on the mini, I have up dated the firmware on both mini & flex and reset them both and set the flash on the mini to master. I have been onto pocket wizard and I am waiting on a reply, I would be grateful if someone could help me with this as it is cracking me up!!!!!

Off topic but there are some reports appearing of the Mini/flex allegedly frying 580 flashes.

If memory serves there are 2 types of master setting on the 580exII, which have you got it set to? Maybe try the other setting.

Maybe try PM borderfox I think he has several Flex's/mini tt's.

I dont know of any specific issues with the 7d, I use mine with a 1dmk3 and a 5dmk1. I use two 580ex2 and use 3 flex units with no flash only a flex unit on the camera. Check that the mini is not set to transmitter only might be set to that by default.

    Maybe post up here http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=812328&highlight=7d+pocketwizard

One of mine did that but it was the pcb in the flex unit that was to blame, had it repaired under warranty and back to normal. One thing I would say about them is the hotshoe doesnt seem very strong so I would resist putting a flash up on top of the mini/flex as it makes the camera really top heavy. Biggest gain for me was to get rid of the flashes off the camera with the ttl system

Pleas read below, I got it sorted out "at long last"

    Hi Zack

I was running on Firmware 1.1.0 and I up dated that but it made no
difference to the mini, I then reset my Custom Functions and it sorted out
my problem, everything is working perfect now, Thanks very much for you
sorting it out for me as it was doing my head in. I must now venture into
    hyper sync any tips!!!!,

Again Thanks very much John Kelliher Ireland

    Hello John,

I'm Zack. I work with Ian doing technical support here at LPA Design. I have
a few questions that will help us narrow down the cause of your issue.

    * What version of the firmware do you have installed in your 7D? Ours is
    running version 1.2.2.

    * Are you using any Custom Functions in your camera? Some settings, like
rear curtain sync, can cause issues with our radios. Try resetting all
    Custom Functions if you can.

    * Does a remote Speedlite attached to a FlexTT5 seem to fire correctly when
you have a flash in the top shoe of the MiniTT1 on your camera?

    * What happens if you use a FlexTT5 as a transmitter instead? Do you see the
    same behavior?

Please reply to this email and keep the case number in the subject line.

Glad u have it sorted John. Thanks for sharing the info.

Slightly off topic, has anyone look into AC3 Zone Controller? It looks seriously handy add-on to the Mini & Flex system, adding the ability to remotely control the strobes on Flexes!
