Parking fine in Spain

    Hi folks

last Monday week I received a parking fine while visiting Valencia. I didn't even notice it stuck to the windscreen till I was halfway out of town.

Has anyone any advice on how to go about paying this?

The dude in the car hire office told us to forget about it but I'd rather just sort it.

I tried the Spanish embassy but a chocolate teapot I'm afraid.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

From what I remember when I was in the same boat, I left the ticket in the hire car and they just charged it to my Credit Card. Works the same as if they needed to do a big cleaning job on the car after you, they have your details and just put on the charge. Or else go on the run and never, and I'm mean never go back to Spain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

If you can sort it out, do it. If you've left Spain though I can't see how. I got a speeding fine in Brighton and the hire company charged the fine and a pretty substantial handling fee to my CC.

I'm guessing that what he meant was that you have noting to worry about in the sense that the CC company will get billed for the fine and therefore no paperwork or effort is needed from you.

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

I didn't that impression from the guy behind the counter. He said when the cops come to the rental company, they'll pass on my details and let them come after me!
