Hee hee. When I lived in Belfast, I loved how you would see a guy who looked like a total biker dude hard-ass, and then he'd open his mouth and that gentle lilting accent would come out...although I feel like every time there is a thread on it, people from the south think the nordy accent is menacing.

I'm from good Ulster, not bad Ulster.

Though when I go anywhere back home I always have to go through the naughty (yet rediculously cheap) Ulster, even if I just go for a run.

Am a Mexican living in Belfast for the past 4 years, originally from Limerick. Funny f@ckers up here like to refer to my home town as Stab City, until I remind them that when people refer to Belfast as a blast they are not always being complementary. Its alright up here, haven't seen any trouble even during the riots last month, its all contained within the crappier parts of the city and never spreads to the rest of the town, just like home.

it all boils down to asking them to say 'situation' and sniggering at the effort.

We people ('s Republic) of Donegal do not need any chat up lines, we have our glorious accent.

    No. Not quite.

Nope, like the accent though even if its a bit funny sometimes... I laughed when I heard someone with the accent say Baby, because it sounded like Bebey, the way Fat Ba$tard from Austin Powers says it...

    I'm easily amused.

    I have to ask.
Are you all still pissed off about the brown bull incident?

At the end of the day, you got it back.
We'll give you a few more if that's what it takes to bring total peace.
I've spoken to the people of Leitrim, and they are more than willing to supply one fertile brown bull to every cattle farm in the 6 counties.

    Gis a hug.
