    Hi All,

Heading to Albufeira in the Algarve for a week at the end of september for a week with herself.
Neither of us have been there before but can anyone recommend some good restaurants and pubs along the main strip which is not far from where we will be staying?

I love waterparks so does anyone know if there is a good one in the general area.

    Thanks

    Hi

I was there myself but it was two years ago, I can't remember the restaurant's names etc. The old town for restaurants, we thought, was far nicer and a little less noisy than the main strip, but it depends what your'e looking for. The last two sentences were of absolutely no use to you I am sure, but if I was you I'd go onto Tripadvisor, it has a whole forum of questions and answers on Albufeira (or any town or city you'd care to name for that matter!) and people who own holiday homes and/or have been going for years will answer your questions for you..... also if you read up on some of the things to do section it will help, and they have restaurant reviews too so it's your one stop shop for everything! Have a nice holiday!

    Just back from Algarve yesterday!

Zoomarine is beside Alb... and is a mixture of a water park and zoo. The Dolphin show (similiar to orlando) is brilliant. Theres other shows such as birds of prey, sealions, parrots which are more for kids but ok too. Theres a few rides and fairground rides as well as a pool.

As for water parks, Aquashow and aqualand seem to be the biggest. I went for aquashow as it was nearer Villamoura and loved it - biggest water coaster in europe etc. Aqualand is nearer alb... so its your choice.

    Enjoy

Not on the main strip, but down in the old town(5th October Street). A favourite of herself and myself - the seafood cataplana is delicious:)

Erins Isle is a great Irish pub and restaurant at the very top of the strip next to Montechoro Hotel. Has all sporting events etc and different live events every night.

Old Town (short taxi ride from the strip) has a better selection of restaurants and a better atmosphere. There's a fairly nice steak/grill place at the very beach end of the strip across from Wild's bar (can't remember name). Wild's do fantastic cocktails too, at half price until 22.00 (last year anyway). There's a nice Australian restaurant (kangaroo, crocodile, etc) about a 10 min stroll from the strip too on Almeida Garrett street.

Is that Sizzling Stone? If it is, I agree with you, lovely steaks. Oh and the devils wings with peri-peri sauce are fantastic for starters.

There's a restaurant on the road that takes you to Kiss, that's supposed to be very good. It's called Tres Palmeras.

I agree with Padraig Mor, the old town is nicer for restaurants and bars. It's easy to get to, you could walk in, and get a taxi back.

    Enjoy your hols

Is this area a party location or a relaxed place to go with a partner? I would like to head to the Algarve but want to relax with my GF instead of having an Ibiza holiday.
