Because you are under 23 you cannot apply as an independent mature candidate. You can probably apply and have your parents income assessed

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Haven't lived at home since I was 20, have a child and went back to college last year. My parents means tested and was entitled to nothing except 150 euro a month of child benefit, partner funded everything from travel expenses, childcare, rent & even lunch money! very unfair, my son wasn't even mentioned on the grant form or his 560pm childcare. The system is completely frigged up, I finished my course, it was one year, went to apply for the dole but as I didn't have enough credits my partner had to be means tested, so I'm running aroung trying to get documents for my partner to receive Job Seekers. Heading to university now in Sept and because I have just turned 23 I'm not classed as a "mature student", so again my parents have to be means tested for the Grant!!! complete balls of a system...why means test my partner for one thing and my parents the other?? at the end of the day the money is coming from the same place. They would be quick enough to catch someone who is claiming the dole and getting the grant!!!!!
