I'm thinking of buying a laptop soon, and am looking to spend about 1,500 euros. Dell's Studio 17 seems to offer the best value for money at that price. Does anyone have any other suggestions regarding other companies or ranges?

Mid-range laptop is about the €600-800 bracket.

€1500 would buy you a very high-end laptop.

What exactly are you looking for? Size? What will it be used for? etc (read the sticky).

Thanks, didn't see the sticky before.

It will be mainly used for simple applications and reading/generating PDF files, but I would like to be able to play the odd game as well (e.g. Starcraft II).

Perhaps 1,500 is considered to be high-end, but it's basically my budget, and I want to steer clear from 'hardcore gamer' territory.

What Dell offers for 1,300 is:

    Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64bit- English

    Intel® Core™ i7-620M (2.66Ghz, 4 Thread, turbo boost up to 3.33 GHz, 4MB cache)

    17.3” High Definition+ (1600x900) LED with TL

    4096MB 1067MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM [2x2048]

500GB (7,200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive

Primary 6-cell 56 WHr Lithium Ion battery

    Dell Wireless 1397 Mini Card (802.11 b/g)

1GB ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5650 Graphics Card

    etc.

To me this seems like very good value, as it also includes a 3 yr warranty. Though perhaps it isn't good value. Assuming I want to stay around the 1,500 price range, are there other laptop dealers/ranges that I should be looking at.
