Folks my wife is using an iphone 3gs and i set her yahoo account up for her on it, i just selected a yahoo account and put her info in, however sometimes when she tries to send an email it rejects it and puts the email into her outbox and leaves it there?

if i connect wifi it will send but not over 3g?

    anything i can do?

    ive the exact same problem.

It works fine over wifi but wont send over 3G, it says the server rejected it.

Isnt the issue here the outgoing server?

I had the same myself when setting up my mail accounts and it struck me that when sending a mail at home using wifi it would be connecting to the mail.vodafone.ie server and if I was out and about using 3G it would be connecting to smtp.o2.ie.

Since this isnt possible unless you change the outgoing server each time I have left mine on the o2 server and to send mail using 3G rather than wifi.

I can receive mails on Hotmail, Yahoo and o2 accounts no problem on wifi or 3G but when sending mails I turn off wifi.

    +1

In the gaff, connected to wifi? No sending a mail!
Disconnect wifi, or when out and about using 3G or Edge.... Not a bother!

I've had trouble with the mail on my iTouch. I only have the one email address attached to it (yahoo.ie). I sometimes log in and it tells me I have mail but it doesn't appear in my inbox. The solution I found was to go into Bulk mail, have it download the spam then hey presto when I go back into my inbox the (non spam) emails are there.

I only started having this problem when I upgraded to OS4.
