Fitness Test Results

    Hi,

I had a fitness text about two months ago in my gym and had a follow up today with some interesting results. For your information I'm 27 and 6 foot 1, and would consider myself to be of just above average fitness.

The test has concluded I managed to lose 7.6% body fat went from 25.1% to 17.5% but I have also gone from 96kg to 102kg??? I know the whole muscle weighing more than fat thing but the figures above seem a bit excessive!

Other results include losing 3/4 of an inch from my abdomen and gaining half an inch on my chest! Can't remember by arms/leg figures?

Last time out I managed 24 press-ups while this time I got 29, just had to max out and see how many I could do continuously.

Finally in a 12 minute run on the treadmill I did 2.75k this time opposed to 2.4k last time!!!

Everything bar the body mass/weight shows a pretty standard rate of improvement.

Has anybody any opinions on the drastic differences between the body fat and weight???? I'm not hung up by weight figures (once I'm fit and healthy I'm happy) just wondering how natural this is???

Appreciate any opinions on the matter.

How did they measure your bodyfat? Did they use the same methods both times? It's feasible enough that it'd go down that much though, mine went down 6% in the same amount of time when I first started training.

Yes same method both times, used both the Callipers and a scales they have for measuring body fat... When we initially saw the decrease in Body Far the trainer was really happy... its just when you put it against the increase in weight it just seems a little strange???

Maybe a small increase in wieght would have been okay but 5kg is a litlle high...

Was the testing done at the same times during the day? Was there a difference in your diet and water intake before both tests?

    96kg @ 74.9%=71.9kg of lean mass
    102kg @ 82.5%=84.1kg of lean mass

So it would mean a 12.2kg increase in lean mass which does seem too high. Was it the same guy taking the measurements? if one guy squeezes calipers harder than another you will appear to have lower BF.

I suspect some trainers might squeeze harder on purpose to make out like you did very well, -educogym seem to take the complete piss on this point.

You should also take photos and measurements of various bodyparts to track changes.

Testing was done at different time, first time was first thing in the morning before breakfast and yesterdays test was at lunch all I had up to time of test was bowl of porridge, a banana and about 1.5 litres of water.

It was the same trainer each time, note I am not actually paying for this trainers services. The tests are done as part of my membership and generally because the trainer is a nice guy. He then did out a sample progam for me to follow for 6/8 weeks on my own. It would not be in his interest to lie to me...

I have definitely got leaner and fitter over the past few weeks there is no disputing that. It is clearly visible, I'm just confused about the weight gain???

As part of my work out I only do minimal weights, most of my work is high intestity Cardio. So I shouldnt really be gaining excessive amounts of muscle mass, should I????
