Thats not the same set, the currys linked one is the 37C580, an lcd tv

The ibood one is a 37C5800, an led tv, theres a biggish difference there

That set on ibood is a very good deal indeed at that price, that set would be about 900€ here so a very good deal

    Yea this,

    http://www.powercity.ie/?par=10-13-37C510

Thats a 37C5100 rather than a 37C5800 but the 8 instead of the 1 only means it has a freeview HD tuner which is of little to no use over here anyway, both of them will recieve mpeg4 DTT fine

    Hey All

Just spotted this on their website. Seems like a great deal.

Bought it earlier. As per another thread here the same tv more or less in powercity is €880 and similar from other online sources.

So what do the tech heads think? Will it fulfill Full HD requirements? Not very knowledgeable on the specs.

Edit: The ibood tv I mean.

It certainly will, its a very nice 37" set with the added advantage of being wafer thin and the picture quality will be quite nice if you're used to lcd sets and like them, no 100Hz but i wouldnt expect any better at this price point, and it would handle motion fine as long as you're no used to 100Hz

Thought plasma screens are not recommended anymore because picture quality poor and plasma doesn't last as lond as an LED

Whoah, whoah, you're digging a bit of a hole for yourself there

First and foremost, nearly all AV buffs will tell you plasma gives way better picture quality than lcd. Thats fair enough but as fair as i can see it, many people just dont like plasma or else lcd wouldn't have taken over such a chunk of the market. i think in many shops, though, in bright environments, lcds do look better than plasma's but in reality in real world conditions, plasma gives a purer picture quality

And at this stage plasma's last as long as lcds, but the bad publicity they've gotten recently over the 2009 panasonic's black level rises will have eroded their trustworthyness

Some would say though, that the fact that plasma consumes more power than lcds, will be their eventual downfall, compared to a new led* set like the ibbod one, a similiar plasma would easily consume twice as much electricity

*When i call it an led set, thats just what samsung call them really, they're still lcd sets really, just with edge led lighting. Its a shame because the next tv tech coming down the track is called oled and this will undoubtedly cause confusion...
