Ryanair and Infant Name Change - good news story.

I booked flights to Gatwick next month with Ryanair for myself and the other half and our wee man.

When entering the wee mans surname I put down his mothers surname instead of my surname as it appears on his passport.

I rang Ryanair Customer Service on Monday morning, waited for 5 mins. Spoke to a lady who informed me that they could change his surname, just requested a copy of his birth cert as proof and fax it through and there would a charge of 10e for administration.

Now its 100e to do a name change so I thought this was reasonable.

Faxed over the Birth Cert Monday afternoon and rang back this morning as requested to complete the query.

Rang Ryanair customer service, waited another 5 mins, gave the lady my booking reference, she confirmed that they received the fax and changed the name there and then and then I received a new email confirmation.

I am actually very surprised as I was expecting alot of hassle from Ryanair over this, with it being Ryanair and all, but they dealt with my issue very effeciently.

The last time I flew with Ryanair was years and years ago and always preferred BMI and Aer Lingus because I thought I was getting a better service even though I was paying that bit extra.

    Well done Ryanair.

I've had to ring Ryanair customer care three times over the past few months.

Once to rebook two flights after Ryanair had to cancel my outgoing flight due to French ATC industrial action. This included the return flight which was actually a seperate booking to the outgoing flight that was cancelled.

Once to correct a spelling error in a booking.

Last time to change a booking for checked baggage from my outgoing flight to the return flight.

Each time I found the staff pleasent and efficent and there was no additional charges levied.

I was both surprised and impressed.

Easy to knock them but the old get what you pay for rings true.
We flew to milan this year and for me and the missus and the 3 little ones ryanair came in at €850 cheaper than aer lingus.
The staff were great, flight was grand and it was easy to get out of bergamo airport when we got there.
They were also a life saver to me earlier in the year when i had to do an 8 week spell in london....€20 flights home and back were easier to swallow than the €100 alternatives.
We knock them so often but sometimes they are good for you need.

    BTW...I'm not micheal o'leary!!:D
