The groundwork has already been laid: huge growth in the number of honours to Irish citizens, soldiers joining HM forces (at both squaddie and officer level), the Irish Times reporting on royal happenings, more Irish people than ever choosing Protestantism over Catholicism, 10,000s of highly educated under 30s working in London, etc.

Colonies don't have strict borders like they used to. Influencing through hearts and minds is much more effective than enforcing borders with guns.

I actually think greater cooperation with the mainland is a good thing and will probably ultimately result in full assimilation: much like the devolved governments of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

I'm biding my time for the 4th Reich

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Actually, I'd say more Irish people are choosing atheism over religion. Although I'm quite unsure what people believing in a specific version of the same fairy-tale has anything to do with a political visit. Perhaps you might enlighten me? Although, I'm sure you'll find it difficult enlightening anyone from under that bridge.

hey, the UK has a coalition government, where a minority party sold it's soul to a large party that only looks after the rich. MPs have been caught fiddling their expenses and they are in a complete mess financially.

Next month the Pope is visiting.

Maybe they want to assimilate with Ireland?

Indeed. This is already gonna be a divisive enough thread so I won't mention Paul Rodgers . . .
