Season 6 soundtrack confirmed

Well, it was never in doubt but full confirmation.
It's going to be a 2 disc set featuring 2 1/2 hours of music which is released September 14th. It usually appears on iTunes a few days earlier.
I assume it will be along the lines of the season 3 soundtrack, which was 2 discs as well, with disc 1 featuring music from the first 16 episodes and Disc 2 featuring all the music from The End.

That's great news, I was expecting the soundtrack to be released in 2011 as previous soundtracks were always released the year after the season ended.

Great news. Definitely has to be the best music for any season - Alt Locke, Richard, Jacob and Man in Black, realisations in the Alt and the last scene.

After going through it it looks like my original assertion that it will be season 3 like is wrong. The opening piece from Disc 2 is called Recon which was the title of episode 8 so they just cut the season in half as such.
From what I can tell there is actually very little music from Across the Sea and The End; In fact it's only the 2 bonus tracks. I think considering the length and its name Moving On is nailed on to be the music from the final scene (the version I currently have, directly ripped from the show, is 1 second shorter).

This suggests to me that the music from Across the Sea and The End will get its own release as a soundtrack; I can't see any other reason why they wouldn't include more in a collection which includes nearly 3 hours of music and also why they class 2 tracks as bonus tracks.

Yeah, very unusual they didn't dedicate the second disc to The End, but can't really see them releasing another disc. I'd say they probably didn't have the time with it being released so soon.

I haven't gotten around to buying the Season 6 soundtrack yet, but I'm definitely going to buy the final episodes. It's been on sale since Monday, no sign of it being sold out on the website despite the limited amount of copies.

The previews sound great. 'Parallelocam' sounds beautiful, ditto 'Our Lady of Perpetual Labor' (I will NEVER tire of variations to that piece of music, and this one appears to have a lovely cello solo).
