    is it true that the actual leaving cert is marked easier than the mocks or is that just a myth??

    The myth is untrue. It is just a confidence booster for the Leaving. You have done the papers before so you have more experience.

    They're not necessarily marked easier, but they are marked better.

    And generally the questions in the LC are actually relevant to the sylabbus, unlike mocks.
    For example, Special Relativity has a nasty habit of appearing on physics mocks.

    The mocks are set by commercial companies who are there to make money. They hire correctors (sometimes teachers but not always) to correct the papers. The standard of correction is at best variable.

    The LC is set by the SEC and is corrected by qualified teachers who attend a conference and correct to an agreed marking scheme. Their work undergoes checks by supervising examiners to ensure it's done properly. There's a world of difference between the two.

    there marked better - and people are actually better 4 months after the mocks... so therefore get better grades
