I remember having a comic book in the house some many years ago, actually it was an annual, and it featured characters from Irish mythology - The Fianna I think it was but with a humourous slant. Does anyone know what it was called?

Also does anyone remember a comic strip, British this time, which featured characters investigating derelict ships on distant worlds?

I think I may be able to help you. I do remember getting an annual which may be the one you are talking about for Christmas in December 1983.

The book did feature a comic strip story with a comical parody of Fionn and the Fianna as they took on the Vikings. There was also comical cartoons of a devil and an angel and a sci fi adventure featuring a polar bear and some other charactors who wisked around in a space ship who found themselves taking on the snow people of Pluto.

There was also a serious strip about the hero Cuchullain.

There was another another annual which was made by the same crowd which my brother got which was of a similar vein. A comical story about a female superhero similar to Wonder woman but who could fly and a more serious story set in ancient Ireland about a young girl who is seperated from her parents who are a king and queen.

I do not remember the names of these annuals but I seem to remember most of the cartoons (indeed he may have also created the annuals) was a cartoonist by the name of John Byrne.

I have searched the internet for any clues about this book but totally in vain. However there is an Irish cartoonist now based in the UK by the name of John Byrne. I have no idea if this was him but from what I can remember the style of drawing was similar to his.

Sadly I have no more info on the book. I do hope this is of help.

As for the British comic book, I think it was an adventure in the comic book 2000 AD and the name of the adventure was Ace Trucking Co. I think. It featured a group of aliens led by a tall comical character with a pointed head who were involved in deliveries as far as I can remember. They spoke in CB lingo, (used by truckers during the 70s and 80s.) This adventure ran during the 80s.

I don't know if this is what you are looking for however I would suggest that this adventure could have been in the comic 2000 AD since it had many sci fi stories.
