ok guys, going away this weekend to Turkey.
running an iPhone 4 on Meteor Bill Pay.

dont want to run up any roaming / data charges.

is it simply a case of :
    Setting>General>Network>mobile Data Off
    and/or
    Setting>General>Network>Data Roaming Off

Yes if you select those settings, your phone should be unable to connect to the internet abroad without wi-fi.
If you give meteor a call, they may also be able to disable international data roaming on there end - just to be safe, it might also be an option in your account settings online (three enables you to do this)

    have a good holiday :)

Meteor should be able to just disable international data roaming, instead of local so you should remain unaffected.
With meteor, there is no incentive to have international data roaming on anyways as it's not included in the plans and it cost's a fortune.
