What is going on with the world when firefighters get into trouble for taking a couple of photos. Kill joys or what?

    Monday August 16 2010

Fire brigade is to launch an investigation after firefighters were pictured taking photographs of young women at the scene of an accident.

Images of two girls sitting in a fire tender wearing firefighters' helmets prompted Dublin fire chiefs to launch an investigation.

An eyewitness said the girls arrived at the scene of an accident and stopped to pose for pictures which the officers were "more than happy" to take.

The photos show the girls sitting in the truck wearing helmets. A fireman is seen taking picture s of them.

Sources said that requests for pictures, especially from young women, were common.

"We're investigating the matter and the context in which the picture was taken," a Dublin Fire Brigade spokeswoman said.

"Dublin Fire Brigade responds to 110,000 calls a year and is always available 24/7. At no time did any call go unanswered or would calls not be responded to. It will be investigated.

"There's no way any firefighters would not respond to calls or not have done everything they were required to do. At no stage would that tender not be available to respond to a call."

Dublin Fire Brigade is the largest in the country, with more than 900 personnel.

Perhaps its not the photo but the fact that it was when then were working.

    Still a touch harsh though

If you could see a building burning down in the background it might be a valid complaint, but I don't see anything wrong with it as is.

I dunno about smokin, but they were quite hot

Dont see anything wrong with it, they were only doing what they were trained to do.

The firemen saw two bits of hot stuff and were doing what was necessary to get their hoses out and wet.

Did the ladies own the camera or was it one for the wall of the fire station bedroom??

EDIT: I forgot the IMG tags don't work here. That's the photo there - they look alright, in a blurry kind of way.

Thread title was also a bit misleading. I expected photos of women from up a ladder, in a peeping tom kind of way.

What a waste of time all round.

    1. Members of public asks firemen to take a picture.
    2. Firemen take picture.
    3. Another member of the public takes a picture of firemen taking the picture.
    4. An investigation is launched.

The person who complained should be investigated.

Dublin fire service are a professional bunch of lads, i really don't think they'd have taken the picture if they thought it was taking away from the work they were doing or if it was an emergency.

Id say they were just finishing up towards the end of a call or something.

Do you think so? I instantly assumed they left the building to burn so they could take the picture....

I don't see a problem with an investigation. If they had just gone off duty or were returning from a completed job then they will be grand.

But why not just leave them be? It's completely harmless what they were doing.

Once they're not on a call or were meant to be elsewhere then I'm sure it will be a swift investigation and quickly forgotten about.

I expected this to be about some woman whose house had burnt down and she was in her pyjamas and the spray from the hoses made her pyjamas wet and you could see her boobies and thats what the firemen were taking photos of.

    Very disappointed. :(

Word on the street is that as the firefighters were getting ready to leave the scene after a case when a group of girls approaches and asks can they get a pic.

One of the girls in the group that approached the lads is the journalist who then makes up a fairly bogus/inflammatory story. Oh and shes now under investigation for forging prescriptions and buying medication "as research"!!

Course this is just the word on the street...............;)

I dunno what the fuss is about, it's not as if they were playing with firemen's hoses, or riding a slippery pole.
