On raw the new tag belts were revealed.

They look very simple and not much thought put into them.
Tbh, they look like they were designed by someone who was messing around on one of the smackdown games.

What's the general consensus on them?

Makes no difference really. They've lost their credibility.

    Awful.

Best tag belts were the ones that the Hart Foundation and The British Bulldogs feuded over.

    Why change a classic.

Nearly as bad as that DIVA belt who designs these things anyway the tag team division in the WWE is rubbish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,734 ✭✭✭✭Penn

My god, they're terrible. Why not just get rid of one set of the belts and keep the other.

WWE have become really awful at designing belts. The Divas belt, the spinner and now these are just too gimmicky and toyish looking to look like serious belts

it looks like a plastic toy, not something that should have prestige attached to it! the designers are gettin lazy!

I should have said, I got this picture off Wrestlingsuperstore and thus, it actually is a Toy.
Only pic I could find that represents them.
I'm sure better ones will pop up in time.

Are they still being called the unified tag champs or just tag champs? I doubt anyone would complain of they were just called the tag champions

    They're bronze.

    It's a blatant statement that they're worthless.

sorry i even mean on tv they looked plasticy imo! they should just go back to the classic belts, like in the new age outlaws era:

Can't say I'm a fan. I always felt the best titles were the ones Stephanie introduced back in '02 I think which Angle and Benoit first won:

Blast. There goes my hopes of them splitting the titles again.. At least in the foreseeable future..

I don't think they're special really. The tag-titles are useless nowadays as is the art of the tag-team.

Will they introduce new Smackdown ones now?

That picture is off a replica belt site, so they aren't the real deal.
    (assuming you mean my picture)

    They're a bit spartan.

    ...

    *cough*

TNA World tag team titles are probably the best one ive ever seen since the WWF attitude tag team titles. I can honestly say this tag team title is the worst looking title ever

If anyone hasn't seen them yet this is the best pic i could find...

    bretwithbelts.jpg

........even on Bret they look poor!

Looking at it again, does anyone else think they look like another gimmick belt?..

F4WOnline.com is reporting that Vince McMahon decided to change the Unified Tag Team Titles to one single set of WWE Tag Team Titles for two reasons. One is because Vince wanted to market a new set of belts so that fans could buy replica versions, and two is because it was said to be quite difficult for talent to get through security at airports carrying two sets of belts on them.

I can understand why having two sets of belts are awkward at airports, but to approve that kind of style is beyond me.
I can't see anyone buying replica versions of them.

I like them. They look Japanese

They wouldn't be so bad if they weren't bronze. What winner wants bronze? Then again with the status of the tag division these days bronze fits.

"your the best and what you do, but categorically 3rd best.."

I'd love some heel tag team to win them and completely rip the pïss out of them.

But who am I kidding, were going to be stuck with these for a while..

They're awful but they've also lost their credibility.

As Gimmick said the best design was the late 80s design which was the same one pretty much used for all the 90s and was what the Smackdown belts were based on I assume as it looked similar.

Speaking of Smackdown! 2002 was surely the last great tag team division? I mean really really great not just "yeah Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch are real good or Rhodes/Dibiase are alright".

When was the last time the tag titles were defended and also why aren't the Harts on SD also?

BTW the belts look like toy ones

They defended them against the Usos a while back at a PPV iirc

Yep. I guess it's quite fitting then. A small, ugly, bronze belt, for a worthless title.:(

If they dont defend for 30 days are they then not stripped of the belts or does that only happen some times?

They were attacked a few weeks ago by Nexus so that might be a believable reason for their absence. Ideally two members of Nexus would be challenging them for the belts ot NOC

That's only used in kayfabe storylines when it suits. To be fair, would anybody notice if there were no tag title matches for a month? :p

I've latched onto the idea that it should be a tag team turmoil match at NoC so Slater/Gabriel and Otunga/Tarver should be in the tag match.

Ideally it would be Barrett and Tarver (if I were in charge I'd have Tarver as the silent enforcer type second only to Barrett) but Barrett's obviously busy that night. ;)

Have they defended the belts since the Usos at MitB..? I can't even remember seeing those belts since the night they were changed.
