Has using a computer turned your handwriting to muck?

Maybe its just my tourettes playing up again but...

I do pretty much all form-filling, work etc online. Only interaction that I have with a pen is to physically sign the odd thing. With chip and pin, i barely even need that!

My handwriting has never been too much the legible type to most normies, but especially now Its gone to absolute doo-doo. I even think that my signature style has changed somewhat because of it.

Compare with college where the right hand was worn off you from note-taking and id actually be much more legible (I did have to read it again some stage in the future after all!)

Anyone else feel a bit odd when they use a pen for anything longer than a short list or similar these days?

My handwriting's always been terrible, so I'm always glad to use a computer instead!

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    No. I'm in college though.

    nope, it already was muck.

Tech support job nearly destroyed my handwriting, then taking quite a few maths and stats courses as part of my masters cleaned it right back up.

Nope, i used to still write a fair bit when i was working so my hand writing has stayed pretty much the same.
I do find using certain pens make my writing look sh1te!

I prefer to write with shít, sometimes when I'm bored in my cell I like to write the number of the beast all over my walls in with my own feces. I find it easier to obtain than run of the mill muck and has just the right consistency of stickyness for it to be useable on a padded wall.

Its grand usually but if i have to write a lot for some reason it gradually gets worse.

Nah my handwriting was always muck anyway, looks like something a 7 year old would do.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,784 ✭✭✭Superbus

No, I'm still in school, but I had to write a birthday card the other day and after the word 'To' I had to resort to print. Not writing for 2 and half months is detrimental to handwriting quality.

When I'm on form though, I'm on form. My exams are truly a piece of art.

Yes similar. not quite 7, but stopped improving long before I had use of a computer at 13

my hands constantly shake and i can't stop them so even typing is a risky business when it comes to people judging how presentable i am. i tried joint writing last night and i just couldn't do it. haven't used a pen since i finished my junior cert in june.

I'm in university and use a netbook for word processing notes, papers, etc. In the mean time, yes, my handwriting has declined.

i think a 5 year old would put my writing to shame.

    Yes!!

Yes. I can hardly use a pen in a "correct" fashion, sadly this has'nt been traded off with brilliant typing.

my hand writing was always rubbish some times i can't even read it. I smashed my thumb up about a year ago so that hasn't helped either

Yes, absolutely. When I was in school I had pretty neat handwriting. Now it's a bit of a scrawl...

Handwriting you say? I wish! Even my signature looks like it was done by an epileptic 5-year old.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,054 ✭✭✭SadieSue

Nah it hasn't changed that much.
I remember one time in school my teacher told me I could be a doctor because my handwriting was so bad.:pac::o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,442 ✭✭✭MickShamrock

Nope. My handwriting is neat and legible.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,706 ✭✭✭Voodu Child

It hasnt affected my handwriting in the sense of how it looks (still looks as bad as always :pac:) but it has actually affected my ability to write.

I think its partly a timing thing - when you type it has a very regular rhythm, whereas when you write, certain letters take longer than others. Ive just kinda lost that rhythm from typing so much, and any time I write now my brain gets ahead of my fingers and I mess words up or miss letters a lot.

Meh. I'd prefer to be to be a shít hot typist than have nice neat girly handwriting.

My handwriting varies anyway. Its the spelling. I can't spell anymore. Damn Computers ruins my chances of winning irish equilivant of the Adult Spelling Bee

I've never gotten over my "joined-writing" hangover stint from primary school. Bastards.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,316 ✭✭✭✭the_syco

Although my handwriting has gone down the tube a bit, my typing is improving :D

Used to write at the speed of light, and my notes would be jibberish. Completely f**king pointless, too, as the lecturer would be reading from typed up notes. Spastic f**ker never gave us notes :(

It it wasnt for computers and spellcheck id be working down a mine somewhere, my handwriting has always been gank.

Ive no idea how I ever passed any exams, most examiners were just to lazy to read it and gave me decent marks.

I can even read my own writing half the time let alone someone else having to deciper it.

    In short computers FTW

    Yep.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Mine looked like a spider's tracks after being being dropped in a pot of ink, and that was well before I knew how to use a computor.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 37,214 ✭✭✭✭Dudess

Yeah, it kinda hurts my hand to write.

Yes, my handwriting has suffered. I used to be able to write 80WPM, but now only 15WPM :(

I don't think using computers for long periods of time affects my hand writing but when undertaking history exams I've noticed instead of Hitler I say either "Troll" or "Bieber" now.

My handwriting looks like it was written by a person without hands.

My writing has always been terrible.Plenty of teachers complained about it but I never really cared.Computers make writing unnecessary.

Yeap, and spell check on my pen doesn't work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,572 ✭✭✭✭brummytom

Nope, my hand-writing's never been great. Anyone else left-handed end up smudging half of what they write if they use a nice Parker pen? :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,350 ✭✭✭Lust4Life

If it weren't for list making, I would forget too much.
So I do still have lovely handwriting skills.
That and I have a sister who adores getting greeting cards...

I always have to write, for work.

Just like myself! Only thing I write these days is birthday cards and my handwriting is worse than my nieces & nephews. Its always been crap though so I dont think the computer is entirely to blame.

Whoever said that the pen is mightier than the sword, has obviously never gone head to head with a Samurai.

In a handwriting contest or swordplay? Cause Zoro is good at doing the former with the latter.

Pretty much the same... I tell my brain to write my signature and then think "what the hell is that scribble???!!"

Actually, many children would be ashamed of it...

My handwriting is awful, and I blame it on computers. At least that way, it's not my fault.
