    you would think they might be allowed to ad-lib from time to time, like change the name of the 9 news to the 10 news when they are reading it out at 10. Those newscasters do work hard on RTE news now...

    what have i started here, the channel was only off for about 10 mins at 9pm or was it 10pm, 11pm............

    Whats done is done.

    If they disappeared on an unsanctioned toilet break whilst meant to be continuously reading the news their wages will be docked probably. Did you notice whether they skipped any stories or whether they failed to make the same mistakes ? That would be an automatic drop to the late night news, which is an overnighter with the use of a commode.

    The powers that be are no doubt checking the log tapes now.

    Gerry not many know this but the commode has become as much a built in feature in many newsrooms as the autocue, apparently.
