Looking for a Desktop PC. Nothing fancy, mainly using Office Apps and the internet.

    Spec:
    Dual Core 3.0+
    2 GB Ram
    250GB+ HD
    LAN
    DVDRW

    No software or keyboard/mouse required.

Ebuyer have this for £225 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/225703. Anything better out there? Checked DELL but they are dearer.

Would a Revo be lacking or should it be considered?

    Thanks!

Acer Revo - would lack a DVDRW - however you can get an external one.
Also processor would be much less - however sufficient for office and internet. Not for new/recent games though.

Do you want an Operating System as well ? - or do you have a copy of windows/linux to install on this machine you are getting ?

I wont need any software. The PC is for a family member who wont need much processing power so I may go down the Revo route and i can take it myself if its not up to the job. Ebuyer used to have a dual core Revo but no longer seem to stock it.

Most pcs that cheap come without an operating system - presumably if its for a family member then you want windows on it ? Also do you need a monitor ?

Thats why you see a disparity in prices between the ebuyer one and others. (the additional windows license cost)

Ebuyer have the Revo with Linux for 200 sterling at the moment

Amazon have the Revo approx for 300 sterling (but thats with windows). Even at that price I think they are worth it !

You could also look at this (both used but with warranty)

    http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/2928235/art/dell/optiplex-gx280-sff-pc-p4.html

(130 euros - no monitor though).

    Or this (with monitor)

    http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/5300902/art/hp-compaq/dc7100-complete-system-2.html

    For 160 euro.

Other options would be Dell Outlet - or Adverts.ie - however I guess you have already checked those out !

Dell outlet is in the middle of a site update so cant get in there.

Thanks for the Pixmania links but I wouldn't be going down the second hand route. I looked at some of the other Desktops on their site and the Ebuyer still looks like the best value.

A monitor would be a nice to get but not a must. There are usually always good deals going around for these. No software required as I already have this.
