    Hi,
I was made redundant early in the year and paid alot of tax on it. My tax free allowances wont be fully utilised by the end of the year so Id be due tax back but also i would be entitled to top slicing relief just wondering which comes first or takes precedence or is it all automatic when you apply for tax back.

Top Slicing Relief is not granted until after the tax year is finished (31/12/2010)

Top Slicing won't be applied automatically, you need to ask for this to be granted to you.

You can still claim tax back in the mean time, via a Form P50.

The tax office is who you'd claim this back from also. You'd need to get an Income Levy Refund Claim Form, and submit this with your Income Levy Deduction Cert, again after 31/12/2010.:)
