yes you are the manager of the irish team, this year you have the autumn internationals, the six nations, plus an irritating pimple called the heinekien cup, how do you approach it, do you go all out in the autumn, do you go all out in the six nations, which means your squad is tired and weary come the world cup, have your employers but a word in your ear, are you allowed to have a little conflab with coaches of the provences, you know your plan has to be in place before september the 1st, lets have it.

As far as the Heineken Cup is concerned there's a big chance at least 2 of our provinces will go out in the group stages. I also don't think going all out in the Six Nations will somehow hamper the team going into the world cup. Having their players play full seasons didn't hamper France, England or Argentina last time round.

Plus the Irish players will have the most rest/preparation time of any of the nations.

It would be nice to see an effective ball in hand style of play being adopted. Also, it will be interesting to see how much work has been done on the scrums over the summer....

I expect all the Irish provinces to adopt an NZ style game plan.

As a side note, Im really looking forward to the ML and Heino Cup this year. Hopefully should see some great attacking rugby :)

its simple.. nothing can really be done about the HC players will play just hope they dont get hurt.

    1. Hayes dropped from both Munster and Ireland

    2. Drico
    Healy
    POC
    DOC
    Flannery
    ROG
    O Leary
    Wally
    Darcy
    Bowe
    Earls
    Heaslip
    Ferris
    Kearney

Should not be seen come the AI's.. the risk of injury is too great.

Sexton, keatley, Mcfadden, touhy, and the rest of the younger players should play.. all given game time With stringer, quinlan , MOD etc in to keep the team steady. Fitz back in to get back to speed.

    3. Starting WC 15 should play england, france, and wales with the younger guys playing italy and scotland

    4. Buckley is the problem he needs all the game time he can get but he gets hurt we are fcuked

Hopefully we end up with a situation were all the guys are not injured/tired and the younger guys have games under their belts so they wont get blown away if called on for the wc

no mention of the autumn yet, all the managers on the ditch and nothing really specific, come on guys next july ye will be like foaming at the mouth about what was not done properly, stand up and be counted.

Use the AI as a training ground for the younger guys (+Fitz coming back) to give them experience. I think we're big and bold enough now that we don't -have- to win every game if it's providing young lads with a chance to prove themselves.

There's probably something to be said for putting our AB bugbear behind us in the AI too.

I'd like to see how the scrum has progressed over the summer.

Heading into the 6 nations, the on-form players should be given 1st choice over the usual suspects if they are not up to scratch. For example, last year Cullen should have kept his place over O'Callaghan/POC (can't remember which one) when they came back from injury. I remember him doing a smashing job overall.

Having lost 5 games in a row or whatever we need to be going for wins this Autumn.

If you are Team Manager, you have a partial say in selection and have no say in tactics or strategies as you are not a coach.

    Here endeth my pedantry. :)

Well for starters without the Hcup, the squad wouldn't be anyway near the that standard they currently are.

Gotta build a squad - if it means blooding a few players in the AI's and 6 nations resulting in some losses then so be it. Fight with the provinces/clubs to give the top players an extra game or 2 off.

The need for a competitive squad was shown to be a must after the disaster of the last world cup.
