we soak the rolled barley in mollasses for about 2 months and feed every week with barley then the last week take out the barley in mollasses they go mad for it, took out 10 bags 2day will go friday again with more, not 2 bad when 5 chip in and buy 50 bags, 40 yo yo each and you'll get good shooting, i got 13 mallard last year the opening morn, we go 22 mallard and 3 teal between us.

13:eek: sounds like a rambo film:D ... thats some concoction but i have heard them called pigs on wings... i normally feed em whole barley and potatoes... they usually wait for the spuds to rot a bit before they eat em.. when we were in school and could'nt afford feed we used to go round on our bikes lookin for grain trailers perked up and help ourselves mind you we couldn't manage too much with the bikes we also used to feed em cabbage leaves sugar beet carrots and most of the time they would always be at the feed greedy feicers

ya we get the whole barley, and put rotton spuds on pond, never hear of cabbage leaves and sugar beet, but iam sure it works, rolled barley and mollasses seems to work but the smell can be fairly bad after a month or two, and to you wildfowler94 a lot of black &whites, widgeon and teal seem to be a little later on get them on the ponds, with the winter like last year was water everywhere hard to know where to go, got great shooting on stubble and ponds.

Pink-footed geese only occur in very small numbers in Ireland. Are you sure you're allowed to shoot them?
And before anybody eats the head off of me I know there common in winter in the UK......

They're in no way protected. But, the PTB(B.ie) have enacted a new law which states that the persecutor of any and all such quarry must, in all and any circumstances, be equipped and properly trained with appropriate calibres so as to, not to put too fine a point on it, cull such quarry with the minimum of suffering to any possible innocent bystanders.

Or in laymans terms, report the buggers!

Went up sunday morning for a look.we saw only a few duck

and one big skein of geese. But as you know yourself if there are

plenty of boats out everyone will get a few shots.

Past years have thaught me that the 1st can be hit & miss

and its more of an occassion.Just my opinnion.

Will wait then for the hard weather and thats when you

get great shooting on the lake and have the place nearly all to yourself.
