    Hi guys,

I'm wondering does anybody have this program who would be willing to let me use it to read my SKC code?

I just bought a car with one key and i want to change my immobiliser just in case the previous owner "finds" the second key and decides to pinch the motor back. Chances are this wont happen but why leave things to faith. I also want to get a new key cut etc and i dont want to pay VW a fortune. I have VAGCOM so i can encode the my immobiliser myself.

    Cheers

Just discovered your posting. I have lost my second key and like you wish to recode the new key myself. It's a Skoda Fabia 04. I have purchased a new cut key + virgin transponder on eBay and now want to buy the software/cable to do this. I am just wondering have you achieved this and what cable/software did you use.

No, I'm afraid not. Drew a blank unfortunately

We locked the keys in the boot recently (dont ask) and had to call out an auto electrican. We were in Monaghan at the time and a lad came from Fermanagh (i think) and picked lock and cut me a new key. He also gave me the SKC, all for €160. €100 for the call out and open car.

I would suggest trying this, if you are up north i can give you his details and he will sort you out. Sound lad and I have no doubt he would recode the original key and then cut you a new key to match it.

What I did while awaiting a method of doing this myself, I removed the transponder from the key and secured it to the ignition barrell close to the black plastic coil that sits at the mouth of the barrell. By doing this, I am now able to use the new key without having it coded. The transponder is not battery dependent hence the reason for being able to remove it. It works like this......when you put the key into the ignition you are placing the transponder which is positioned at the tip of the key and therefore close to the coil. When they are in close proximity thet communicate with each other allowing you to start your car. For your interest, I got the key here http://www.ebay.ie/itm/VW-SEAT-SKODA-AUDI-Replacement-key-INC-CUTTING-FROM-PHOTO/150894632240?ssPageName=WDVW&rd=1&ih=005&category=9886&cmd=ViewItem

You will have to say that this is very reasonable. I provided him with a close up photo of the key and he cut it perfectly. Might be a good idea to get a spare youself and do what I did with the transponder. For that price, you could place that key somewhere in a plastic rapper on the chassis just in case you do the same again.

Hope this helps. If you should happen to find the suitable cable/software in the future, I would be delighted to know.
