Anyone at the party on nimmo's pier saturday night? Was bloody epic!
The guards arrived at around 6 to end it all, and I think 1 guy got arrested, not sure tho.
    Anyone know what happened?

Parry of the summer tho. Great craic!

not a single rubbish bin within a km of the place so the place must have been in some state.

Possibly, i didnt notice though! We had a bag with all our beer so the empty cans we had were thrown in on top. I can only assume there was a good few cans thrown into the sea. Which isnt cool....

Ya thanks for keeping me up all night
On the plus side though it was great to watch you beat the living daylights out of each other after the guards broke the group up...

it's allways the same people in galway get drunk and can't handle it expecially the younger ones..they should rename galway as buckfast abbey

Ah it was good fun to be honest, there was no rowdy-ness or anything there. Until the end when the guards arrived of course.

I think everyone was just in awe at how fun the party was to care about bein a dick.

I was in total awe of it...How such complete di$kheads could decide to have a rave literally outside my window. Why not on the beach like they've had it for the past few years ?

It was down the very end of the pier!!
Didn't think it would be that loud closer to the residential areas.

I guess it were pretty close to the long walk!

    Sowwy....

Do you think that the speakers where pointed out to sea ?
The very end of the pier is no more than 30 meters from 20-30 Apartments
And the speakers were pointed at them.

Anyway I wasn't invited either so I'm not happy lol

Great, we now have the Puerto del Bucky across the river from Bucky Plaza. If we can see a way to Buckify the prom in Salthill we will soon have the Bucky Esplanade on the map in no time.

Ah it was great fun! Typical though that it was the one night I went out without a cardigan or scarf or anything, I ended up spending most of the night at the bonfire close by.

Sounds pretty cool, but why not have it on the small beaches just past the pier?

Normally, drink + dancing+ nightime + being at the end of the pier = some tit falling in.

It was for a girl's birthday afaik, so I assume that's just where she wanted to have it. But yeah It wasn't the best place to have it what with the lack of railings and all.

Is there an age limit on buckfast? As in if your over 27 it is seen in the same light as a balding, overweight 53 year old driving an open top sports car with '99 red balloons' blarring from the radio?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,200 ✭✭✭muppetkiller

Buckfast stopped being cool the minute it cost more than a decent bottle of wine.
That was the whole ethos of Bucky , Get hammered on the cheap.
Nowdays it's more expensive than a really good bottle of wine ( or two decent ones in Dunnes) so can't see why people still drink it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 215 ✭✭Eman Resu

It's insane caffine content is one reason people drink it. Caffine I presume makes your heart beat faster and gets the active ingredient into your skull quicker which then generally results in the user being out of theirs.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,165 ✭✭✭✭brianthebard

caffeine doesn't make you drunker. And I completely agree that its costs too much to be the drink of knacker drinking choice.

I wasn't really saying it gets you drunker, I'm saying it gets you drunk quicker due to the caffine speeding up the heart rate? Could be wrong on that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 330 ✭✭Maja

If there is caffeine in it i guess the result is more like after reb bull with vodka -drunk but alert?
I was surprised as well how much it costs -tought its a cheap thing. Nothing better then any Chilean merlot for half price in Tesco.

Each bottle of Bucky contains the same caffine content as about 10 Cans of Coke..For some reason there's more caffine in the Irish version 55mg/100ml compared to the Scottish one 35mg/100ml.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 215 ✭✭Eman Resu

Jebus! Knew it was high, didn't realise it was that high. No wonder I went a bit loopy the first (and last) time I drank a bottle.

The angry emoticon on google chat - i.e. "x-(" - is the best one. He waves his fist and all :-)

Buckfast is horrible anyway, it tastes crap until you cant taste anymore. Red wine is far nicer....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 564 ✭✭✭Clemon

I prefer a nice pinot grigio myself

To me it tastes like strange (but nice) desert wine or sherry which you would drink with your granny after Sunday dinner. :)

    Cab-Sav Muthafookas!!!!!!!

Joyce's are doing one 'Santa Catherina' for a €5-highly recommend it!

Buckie is a great drunk for me personally 'cause when im on a hardcore night pints won't do it and DVRB will have me out on my ass! Buckie is like Goldilock's porridge for me!
