new hedge advice needed

    anybody know is there a certain time of year to plant a hedge and whats the easiest type to gro???? thanks all.......

    if using barerooted (upotted) plants late november to early february ,

    purpose of hedge? shelter, decorative or reps, would determine type

    Definitely bare root is the best way to go...
    As for what grows best... look around the hedges nearby, these plants will be the easiest to grow and will look most natural when established.

    Get the native mix hedge from Coillte nurseries. Got mine from Adrattin Carlow.
    A mix of whitethorn, blackthorn, hazel, spindle and Guelder rose. I think I got my trees for around 50c per sapling. You get a stock proof hedge in a couple of years. Good for wildlife also and looks alot better than those ugly non-native hedges.
