What's the English dept like (Masters in Irish Writing)/ Politics/ being a grad?

    Hello,

I'm currently studying English at a great university in England - I turned down a place at Trinity for undergrad, but with the idea in the back of my mind that I'd come over to do a Masters, mainly because I'd love to live in Dublin for a year (my parents are Irish but I grew up in London - would be really good to live in Ireland for a while rather than always feel like a bit of a tourist!). So, does anyone know what the English department is like? I'd want to do the Irish Writing course, or maybe Popular Literature - anyone have any experience of these? I suppose there's a part of me that is worried I'll fork out all that money and find out it's the token 'Irish' course for romantic foreigners - though hopefully that's not the case at all and it's a great, well-taught and well-respected course!
What do English undergrads at Trinity tend to go on to do?

I'm planning on a career in Law and, at some point, politics, so my other option would be a Masters in Comparative European Politics or International Politics - any views on what these are like and how hard they are to get a place on?

And...what is it like being a grad student at Trinity?

Thank you for any input! :D
