I'm thinking of goin rally driving for the first time. I've sourced a few websites and companies offering rally driving lessons for absoulte beginners. Which one of the schools and courses are the best ones to go for? I haven't clue which one to go for or what really I should be looking for. All your opinions and advice would be really appreciated. Also if there are other schools which you would recommend instead please do let me know. Also what car is the best one for rallying? Of the foolwoing schools, course and cars which is the best?
Sorry about all the questions. Thanks for all your advice.

Hopefully someone here will have some experience for you, but you may be more likely to get advice in the Motorsports forum:

Kris Meeke the IRC rally champion still works in rally school Ireland.. If you can wait give them a ring and ask for a date that he is working. Its a biggish list but it will be worth it..

In the good old days he charged 10grand for his time to set up cars..

Considering Billy Coleman from Millstreet was Ireland's most sucessful rally driver, maybe after Paddy Hopkirk (but he was from the North), is there any good driving school in the Cork area?

OP If you're going Rally driving, you'll need a competition licence from Motorsport Ireland (the governing body of FIA motorsport in Ireland).

The licenceing system requires you to complete a course (either in Monaghan or Dungarvan). YOu're best bet it is to ring the office and talk to them. You'll get an introduction to motorsport pack and course details.

There is more to rally driving than buring the right foot into the back of the headlight. There is scrutiny, flags, stage boards, timecards etc to learn as well.
