ASUS EEE Netbook help needed - XP load

    Hi there,

I'm having a technical problem trying to install Windows XP over the Windows 7 starter that came with my ASUS EEE Netbook (1005P).

It may have something to do with the external USB optical drive I'm trying to install from.

When I boot from the XP DVD, it begins to load but then I get a blue-screen message:

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer"

    It suggested running CHKDSK /F

I did this and there were no errors, but I still get this error message when I try to boot from the XP DVD.

    It also says

    "Technical information:

    *** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF7a57524,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

Anyone know about this sort of thing, perhaps you could PM me and we could discuss. Thanks.

    Hi Dreambiz,

Just wondering if you got to change to XP, why did you want to change by the way.
How do you find the netbook in general (speed + batterry) ?

I am planning to get the Asus 1015 P but not decided yet.

    cheers
