Sodium Fluoride

As shown in this youtube video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIYLY_UYxWs and also try and tested by myself twice just to make sure.

Step 1 - pour a sizable amount tap water into a spotlessly clean pan
Step 2 - boil water until it has completly evaporated
Step 3 - notice the white scum that now stains your once spotless pan?

This is called sodium fluoride, a toxic chemical which the government drops into our tap water against our will and mostly without us even knowing.

    Q: So what?

A: Well, tap water is such a fundamental part of our daily lives. We drink it, eat it and wash in it 24/7. This means we are also drinking, eating and washing in sodium fluoride on a daily basis.

Q: Wow! What's the reason they are adding it to the water?

A: The official reason is that fluoride is good for your dental health.

Q: That dosent sound too bad, surely its a sound plan with good benefits?

A: Wrong, fluoridation of the irish water system has caused and will continue to cause an epidemic of dental fluorosis with some experts claiming 40% of the population have it. It is also suspected that skeletal fluorosis and various other bone diseases are directly related aswell. There has not been one single nationwide survey on the health effects of water fluoridation so facts are sketchy.

Q: But that dosent make any sense. If fluoride is wreaking the nations teeth and causing serious unaccounted health problems then that means the official story is a lie?

A: It looks as though that is the case yes.

Q: I dont believe you, surely they would not get away with such a huge lie?

A: They are getting away with it because the dental authorities are in on the scam aswell and thus spinning the government mantra either unknowingly or otherwise. This gives solid credibilty to the government's arguement since dentists are the foremost authority on dental issues. There are a few exceptions such as the Irish Denists Opposing Fluoridation(IDOF) but they dont have sufficient capacity to challege the system.

Q: Then......why are they putting sodium fluoride in our water?

A6: Nobody is sure the exact reason, but there is ample concern that the reason is a sinister one. The theories range from social manipulation to a healthcare conspiracy to just plain old corruption. Fluoride is a waste product which is extremely difficult to dispose of, some have suggested its easier to just sell it off instead. The various hypotheses have varying degrees of evidence going for them, leading many to conclude that it may be a multitude of entangled conspiracies. Use the internet to search for information on it yourself and come to your own conclusion. There are vast amounts of information available on the topic at the touch of a button, use your brain.

Q: If this is in anyway true and as serious an issue as you are saying then why isnt there more public debate and political activism on the issue?

A: It is a very sensitive debate for a variety of reasons. The first and foremost reason is that we need our tap water everyday in the same way as we need air, we just couldnt function without it. People just wouldnt want to comprehend that it may be in some way compromised by illegal government policy to the detrement of the nations health. Causing concern about somthing on that scale would be a massive national scandal, even in these times. Politicians have gone quiet on the issue in recent years but there has been sufficient rukus created in the past. It is also widely accepted that vested interests have controlled and kept the debate in line with a pro-fluoridation stance. Even the online debate seems to be stagnant and really goes nowhere.

"Fine Gael believes that there are sufficient grounds to point to serious health risks from the cumulative amount of fluoride in our piped water supply system".

    -Ivan Yates, FG Environment Spokesperson.

"The forced administration of regular doses of fluoride, a toxic mixture, which has been shown to have many adverse health effects...................
the doses of fluoride our body accumulates increase the risks of bone fractures, osteoporosis, bone cancer, and genetic damage,"

    -Patrica Mckenna, Green MEP.

Q: What other EU countries use fluroide in their tap water?

A: Apart from tiny parts of England and Spain, we are the only country to still fluoridate our water. Most other EU countries have banned it on health and ethical grounds.

Q: Hmmm, on dentalhealth.ie the Q&A says that "Other (european) countries ceased their programmes for a variety of reasons, none for health reasons."

A: That is an Outwright lie, the only reasons fluoride is ever taken out of the water is becuase it causes health problems.

Q: They also say that "More severe forms of fluorosis are most definitely caused by young children swallowing too much fluoride toothpaste." So whats the big deal at all then?

A: That is another outragous statement, ingesting fluoridated water causes fluorosis full stop. Trying to blame the increased rates or seriousness of it on stupid kids who swallow toothpaste is ridiculous. If swallowing fluoride in tooth paste causes fluorosis, then washing and ingesting fluoride on a daily basis for your whole life is of course going to lead to a massively increased risk many fold of a squeez of paste.

Q: What can i do for the health and integrity of my country?

A: When the politicians of all parties come to your door begging before the next election, look them in the eye and tell them you want the substance known as sodium fluoride, the main ingredient of rat poison, removed from your tap water imediately.

Q: What if they dont give a ****?

A: Have a pre-prepared amount of sodium fluoride in a small glass (see steps 1,2,3 at top of post) and throw it in their face. They will give a **** then.

I think we're going to need a bit more credible than a debate & a youtube
video to convince us that this is nothing more than a thread destined for
    the CT forum ;)

I feel there's Codex Alimentarius afoot!

    This crap again.
OP, you had better stop brushing your teeth.

I drink at least 8 pints of tap water every single day. I have done for most of my 34 years.
I have yet to get "skeletal fluorosis and various other bone diseases".

    Is that not limescale?

Would that not be the salts and other minerals naturally contained in water. Buy a bottle of water and see the same result.

So let me get this straight. The Irish government and the Irish dental association are in on the scam. If this is so, then all you need to show is that they themselves don't drink water containing fluoride because they're absolutely terrified of it. I mean, surely, if they're scamming us they wouldn't be putting themselves in harms way too? Now that would be just plain stupid in my eyes.

They don't put Sodium Fluoride in Irish water anyway, they use Hexafluorosilicic Acid

I don't think it's dangerous personally.. but still think it should be an opt-in thing to have it supplied through the mains

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭opinion guy

Why is this coming up AGAIN ?
Its like the fourth time in two weeks.
Facile one sided debate and thread closure is inevitable

This could be why our tap water is so much more tasty than any other countries

I get my drinking water from a well.. that's not the point though. Many people don't have a choice on what water they can drink, for whatever reason. And we already do pay for the infrastructure for mains supplied water through taxes.

If some spanner refuses to brush their teeth why should everyone else have to drink medicated water?

I read somewhere on here previously that the Gormley made it an election promise that were the greens to worm their way into power he would immediately stop the practice of fluoridating the water

Hasn't any possible risk decreased since we discovered bottled water in the last 20 years?

LOL, yeah. I never even noticed it being a problem in Ireland, either. It was great to come back from Belgium and not have billions of white bits floating in my tea.

First of all we do not use sodium fluoride in Ireland.

Second the fluoride level here is usually below 1 ppm
to get a lethal dose of sodium fluoride (which we don't use here) you would to consume a tanker full of water at one time ( admittedly it wouldn't be the bigger ones, about the size of the home heating oil tankers ) 10,000 Litres give or take.

if you boil water and you see white stuff then it's almost certainly limescale - ever see those Calgone ads ?

There has not been one single nationwide survey on the health effects of water fluoridation so facts are sketchy.

This is where I stopped reading. When someone says the "facts are sketchy" it usually means that the facts don't actually back up what they're claiming.

Step 1 - pour a sizable amount tap water into a spotlessly clean pan
Step 2 - Turn on oven
Step 3 - Stick head in.

    This is called natural selection.

There's been loads of threads about it over the last fortnight for some reason.. each and every one of them ruined by unsubstantiated claims.

It's one of those topics that can't be discussed civilly because of the elements of conspiracy that some people apply to it.. which in turn is used against everyone that doesn't agree that it's necessary to fluoridate the water.

    This.

Also a lethal does is 5–10 g, Which is a lot when you consider that the flouride suspended in the water would have to be measured in ppm its that minute.

There is fluoride in beer =p

Here's a comprehensive list of stuff that contains fluoride, and the amounts within - http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/Data/Fluoride/fluoride.pdf

That's why it shouldn't be necessary to put it into water these days, imo

    You are joking, right? ....

GUINNESS gives you a good pint and fluoride, much to the annoyance of a Dublin nun spearheading an anti-fluoride campaign. Guinness Ireland has disclosed that Dublin stout can have as much as six times the fluoride level of stout brewed in London.

    This.

This topic has been done in Health sciences and dental forum also and it always goes the same way.

On one side the conspiracy nuts claiming all kinds of wild outlandish things. On the other those with a science/health background who think because they have a degree in X and have read report Y by the dental authorities that they are unquestionable experts on the subject. They aren't. There's usually a few folks in the middle actually discussing relevant issues. Sooner rather than later the mods close down the thread because its a shouting match and annoying to moderate.

"Ireland is different" We are one of the only European nations that enforces the compulsory intake of fluoride through the water supply.

"It said the agent used to fluoridate water was called hydrofluosilicic acid, which it claimed was a toxic waste product of the fertiliser industry."
