I worked at my most recent job for two years and have them as a reference on my CV,problem is the job I worked in before them I left under not so great circumstances. They were genuinely very bad to work for and have a very high rate of staff turnover. I put them as a reference for my most recent job and when they contacted them, they said no one knew who I was!! ( I was already working for the company when they followed up for a reference,so they didnt mind too much cause they could see I am a good employee)

By that time all the managers i worked for had also quit. My question is how bad does it look if I have them left out on my cv and the next reference is the job previous to it?? Is it ok to just say that theres no managers there from when i worked there??

It happens, don't worry about it. If anyone asks what happened to the reference in between (which they are not really likely to do) just do as you suggested and say there is no-one there now that knows you.

regarding references: what is the worst case scenario if you got hired and worked a little while and then they realised u gave wrong references?
i know they can fire you but can they refuse to pay you for work done or not?

What do you mean the wrong references? You either give them references of people who you did actually work for or in your case you BS! Honestly what the hell is wrong with you? I was reading your thread about lying on a CV as well. You're either trolling or you've lied your ass off on your CV and you're worried (quite rightly) that it's going to come back and bite you in the backside. My knowledge of employment law wouldn't be expert but I'm pretty sure that if you get the job under false pretences your employer is under no obligation to pay you regardless because at the end of the day you're in the wrong! There's a difference between dressing something up a little on a CV, which I think all of us have done at one point or another, and downright lying.
