chipped front tooth

Hey there, I've had a complete half of one of my middle teeth gone for a few years now. At the start I was given types of filling work to cap it off but they never stuck and it was clear I was going to need some kind of advanced treatment. I dont know if I will need an implant or a veneer or what. I also dont know if im going to be able to afford 1k+ for half of one tooth. I guess this post is a little vague but I've been into a clinic in galway, where im living, and it seemed a little bit like a shop. I was in there initially for some slight irritation with a wisdom tooth. The tooth itself seemed fine, impacted pretty ok, but the edge was sharp and because my cheek was swollen I was biting into my cheek, so I inquired about a bit of filing down, within 10 seconds the receptionist insisted I needed it extracted, nobody looked in my mouth and I was booked in to have it taken out the next day??? I cancelled at the last minute and after some cotton wool in my cheek and a day of no talking I was fine, and still am. So I'm not sure about where to go in terms of getting my front one looked at and hopefully not be up-sold to.

If a filling wont stay in maybe a crown would be best. It depends on a number of factors. Get as assessment by a dentist and find out what your options are. Yes GOOD crown and bridge work is expensive but it will look good and last for a long time (bit like good tatoos ;)), infact there is little else you will buy apart from a house that will last as long.

I'm all for getting good work, because I only want to have it done once basically. It's just the saving part is such a mission. Doesn't seem to be any dental finance groups in ireland or even dentists that offer it themselves. I'd love to get my teeth whitened to, Their not bad really but I'd like them to look that bit better. Obviously I'll have to wait until I get the crown or whatever I need first. I was just wondering is it possible to do with a fixture in there.

There are no specific dental finance companies in ireland ( there used to be but they went bust), The credit union or bank give much better rates anyway. Also most dentist will allow you to pay over the course of treatment which could be 6 months or more. Crowns are tax deductible 20%.

Glad to hear you value a good job, it refreshing on this forum lately.

if you want whitening you should do that first so your crown/veneer can be matched to the new colour. take your time and save up the cash and get it done right .
