Got a new scope yesterday thanks to a boards member and need to set it up with good mounts but don't haven't a clue which ones to get,

The scope will be put on my tikka T3 lite and used for vermin shooting,
    The scope is a 6.5-20 x 50.

    Any advice much appreciated.
    Thanks

    How wide is the tube?
I would shy away from hand tightened mounts like sako opti lock, just my humble opinion

These are better, not sure on the price, similar as far as I remember

You could go with the 2nd lowest option with 50mm scope I reckon, I have a 56mm and it has at least 6 mm of clearance from bell of scope to barrel on the 3rd option.

If I was buying again i'd go lower, They were all that the dealer had at the time and i am an impatient so and so

I'd go with a picatinny rail also, makes aligning scope easier.

    Worth the few extra bob
You can remove scope by loosening the 3/8" nut with a spanner, and when you put back on it will be max2 clicks off zero,

I've had scopes on and off rifles lie yo yo's past few months and I have to say the mounts have really aided me.

    +1 for Tackleberrywho's setup.

I just ordered the XTR rings and the picatinny base to replace my Zee rings.

I like the idea of the wide surface area on the rings and the numerous bolts.

They'll be here on Monday - I will advise.

Not to be flippant; but 25.4mm is 1" ;)

It because because of similar conversions to that a space craft missed mars years ago!:D

    in normal terms 25mm is ~1" ;)

I use Metric and Imperial in work.

Can cause problems on large scale

Better to be accurate in mdeasurement

    You'd know if you put a 1" thread into a M25 nut!!

Better to be accurate in measurement

    Ahem .................................
You ask for a gallon of gas and they give you a smidgeen in the US; and 5.54Litres in england

    Everyone makes a mistake.

Was going to say that I have used optilock mounts on 2 rifles and they were an absolute pleasure to use.

One set on my brothers sako 75 .270, lots of recoil on that bitch, glad to see the back of that rifle. And one on my tikka .223

You've ordered now though so it's a bit late. Have never had an issue with them, easy to install, needed no shimming or adjustments and haven't budged in 3 or 4 years of ownership.
