LNB - whats on my dish now?

I have SKY + in the main room, and want to get multiroom. They quoted £199 for a new SKY + box, £30 set up and £10 for multiroom subscripton. This was via the online chat with SKY representative. However I live in Ireland and when I asked could I pay the sterling prices they replied I would have to pay online.

Before I decide what to do I need to know this: As there is one satelite wire coming down in each room with a phone line, I presume the previous tenant had multiroom, with a standard box. Do I need 2 cables coming into each room that wants SKY + boxes attached? (I had to get a second cable put into the main room when I moved here). How do I know if the LNB on the dish is suitable for multiroom? Someone mentioned Quatro...........

Im tempted to close the account I have and start fresh, does anyone know if this would pay off?

    Thanks in advance.

BTW, I havn't connected my sky box to the phone line in 3 years!!!!:D

are there 2 connections going to your existing + box?

you dont need a phone line if you only have 1 box

you wont get the sterling prices. multiroom is €15 per month extra. (I have no idea what the install cost would be)

you prob have a quad lnb. it will be fine for multiroom.

you could get a freesat box for the other room (if you wern't bothered with the subscription stuff. )

Yes 2 connections - Dish input 1, and Dish input 2.

Freeview was something I contemplated, but kids wont be happy with the poor selection of stuff for them. Cant blame them, I think its cr*p too:D

From what I can see there are four cables running from the LNB into the house.

    Poor?
Five's Milkshake and BBC's CBeebies is better by far than the US payTV "pap" for zombies kids.

Improve the minds of your kids.
    1) Give them boxes and Lego etc and less TV
    2) Only Suitable Irish & UK Free TV. Watch programs with them if they are less than 10

I can see one wire coming into each of 2 other bedrooms so that must be the other 2, and I have a 10 yr old daughter who's into hanah montana, The saddle club, stuff like that. Her brother is 8, and prefers younger stuff so pop girl and stuff on the FTA is not his thing.

    Anyway, thanks for help.

you will need 2 connections for each + box, so if you intend to have + boxes in each bedroom you will need 6 connections. so the lnb will have to be changed to an Octo.
again i am not sure of the cost,
