    Sorry, but that looks gawdawful.

Is it supposed to be cringeworthy?

"Get up.........now you hit him............hit him hard...."

    ..................really?

I've seem amateur cinema with better special effects. Unless this is a VERY rough cut? (Referring to the first 'battle' vid on that link.)

I really liked James Purfyod (attempted spelling) in Solomon Kane but this doesnt look very good and has the feel of a tv movie that will fleet with the cinema and end up as an exclusive to xtra-vision rental :D

i thought it was going to be about the warships they used in the American civil war which would have been a far more interesting concept for a film

I thought that too. Interestingly enough I mentioned Sahara before, which opens up with a Civil War Ironclad scene that they really went all-out for. Wish they'd used the oppertunity to make a Civil War film too.

LISTENED TO MARK KERMODE ON FRIDAY AND COULDN'T GET OVER THE CLIP THEY PLAYED IN WHICH THE CHARACTERS SCREAMED AT EACH OTHER THE WHOLE WAY THROUGH ONE SCENE. :p

Seriously though, I made me laugh anyway. I'll see it for giggles. :p

Went to see this yesterday. Absolutely loved it - effects are good, battle scenes are great, extremely violent movie as well. Sort of like Kingdom of Heaven on a lesser scale in England, being about a small few defending a castle against a great many.

Went to see it last week and really enjoyed it though I did find the romance sub plot a needless distraction from the action. 2 hours of limb slashing, face smashing violence with a decent story and fine performances, James Purefoy was born to swing a sword. Watched alongside Solomon Kane and Black Death it makes the perfect final part for a great trilogy of sword play.
