Heinenken Cup Rugby - fta v. fransat v tntsat

I am about to put up a second lnb for 19.2 but I am see that France-2 and France-4 show some Heineken Cup Rugby.

What you been the best option for the rugby: fta (5w), Fransat, tntsat or is there some other option? I can probably add a cheap dish for 5w if necessary.

I have a foxsat hdr, which i know is not ideal for multi-sat, but I like all the features it provides for UK TV.

I've been trying to find out myself (to no avail) what other channels show HCup games - but France 2 showed free plenty last season, I get it FTA from 5w - no need for a fransat/tntsat box/card. Didn't realse that France4 are showing games - where did you see that?

I read it here, but I see now that Fr 4 are doing Amlin, not Heinenken cup - so 5w might work. I have an LNB for 19.2 so I thought it might be easier to get an FTV card rather than get another dish and I might have problem with trees on 5w. I need to get the compass out.

What size dish are you using for 5w?

That satellite doesn't need a big dish at all. It is very strong over Ireland.

I've got an 80cm dish and getting a good strong signal...
Thanks for that link - at least confirms my suspicion that no other sat channels will be showing games. Will have to keep an eye on France 4 for the odd Connacht game

...actually kuro_man on this link it looks like TVE and Polsat may be showing games live too. Also this link has a pdf on other countries and channels that showed games live last season.

I guess we'll have to wait for this years agreement is published

Can that be viewed - it's listed as DVB Newtec.... ?

FTA in the sense of conditional access on a French box for astra 19.2 which anyone can buy in france for €150 versus Sky sports. didn't mean to confuse

Are people STILL confused about the difference between FTA and FTV. What you're describing is free to view ie no additional charges once you have the necessary equipment to decode the encrypted signal.

Free to air means there is no encryption whatsoever on the signal.

It is not clear on 5West (nor on Astra or Hotbird for that matter).

that link is nearly four years old,
before the erc redesigned there website there was a list of all the global broadcasters, that is now gone so the uk/irl public don't use them as a viewing source.

All we have now is sky sports, sky italia canal+ and Fr2 for h cup

French eurosport and fr 4 for amlin

Anyone able to get 5 West will probably be able to get 8 West as well. There is normally a feed for France 2 but it is in HD, much sharper picture. Usually on the frequency below which was used on Sunday for the Toulon Leinster game. Check Satelliweb on the day.

i don't think they will be involved based on what is coming out of france. the rights will either be with canal+ or bein sports, unfortunately. It was a great option having france 2 and 4 for the games.

ps i posted elsewhere but with this seasons top 14 coming to an end there will be matches on tv 5 monde on saturday afternoon starting with bordeaux v toulon tomorrow at 2pm. Its on the sky box and fta

france 2 will have a EPCR game on a saturday and france 4 will have a challenge cup game on sunday.

According Midol, the leaders of France Télévisions and EPCR, a body responsible for the organization of European Cups, have reached an agreement to broadcast games in the clear. The contract for the next four years is expected to be signed this week in the local chain.

Two games per weekend in the clear on France TV

While beIN SPORTS has already acquired the rights of two competitions in full (see our article on the device for the first day), the public channel will broadcast a game in every competition in the clear. The selection of posters will be between the two channels, but it is likely to think that France 2 will favor the Champions Cup on Sunday afternoon (just before Stage 2), and France 4 will broadcast the Challenge Cup on Saturday at 21h .
