I've used them a few times with no problems, but I generally use booking.com

Have only used Alpharooms once or twice over last years but never had any hassles with them. you can get some great hotel prices on it

Have used them a few times over the last few years. Never had any problems and they have nearly always been cheapest. Needed to change a booking one time and it was simple with no charge.

Bad reports mainly seem to relate to some cases where people found it difficult to contact them b phone to change booking details etc. Most reports seem fine though - should hope so as I've used them for a place in Portugal at the end of the month.

I have used them a couple of times too & had no problems. i would not worry too much about it.

My uncle has been booking with them for years and never had any problems with them, he goes to the same place every year so he books the hotel through them.

Thanks for that, i have phoned he hotel and all seem to be ok with them-they already had my name and the room that i wanted so fingers crossed all is ok.

We booked a one bed apartment with them for a week in Spain.

When we got to the hotel all they had available for us was a 3 person studio. They said that alpha rooms consistantly sell 1 bedroom apartments in this place even though the hotel only releases the studios to them.

I won't be using them again!

Its the same with us. Used to use Alpha rooms all the time, then switched to booking. Find them easier to deal with and they dont charge your credit card in most cases, you pay upon check out. Booking.com is also cheaper.

Hi OP, I have booked hotels through alpharooms a total of 13 times (including my hotel in Cancun for my honeymoon earlier this year :D). No problems, each trip went smoothly

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,194 ✭✭✭magentas

used them last year no probs at all. even arranged transfers from airport to accommodation there was guy waiting for us when we arrived.
people are very quick to complain about something but they won't be half as quick to compliment good service.
you should have no problems. enjoy the break!

When booking through alpharooms, do they give you a print-off to show your flight booking?
    TIA :)

I've only ever booked flights once (hotels tonnes of times). With the flights, they were booking number only and gave this number to airline and got boarding passes from them. So, to answer your q :D no, no print-off (at least in my limited once off case)

I came across this site last night and was really surprised how much cheaper they seemed to traditional travel agents and other online bookers. Usually c.20% from what I could see. Not sure if there are hidden costs but it didn't appear so. At this moment I'd go with them for a Winter sun holiday.

Alpharooms have been around for years and years - good customer service and and I would wager that they can be relied on for financial stability.

I believe they charge 20% cancellation fee if you need to cancel. booking, com on the other hand don't charge anything for cancellation up to 24 hours before check-in.

Depends what you are looking for from the company I guess.

no record of booking when i got to my destination, no customer service and no refund when i returned - never again

Just back from Portugal having booked hotel and transfer with Alpharooms - had absolutely no problems, would use them again. Booked the flights with Ryanair directly.

Heres what we have just received from the absolute deplorable Alpharooms. Stay well away from them at all costs. Spent an hour on the phone to them to try and sort this out and they refused point blank to do anything. They are a sham of epic proportions.....

    Dear Sir,

    Re: Booking Ref xxxxxx

In reference to your reservation at the Fuerte Miramar Spa in Marbella, I would like to bring the following information to your attention.

Due to a linking error we regret to inform you that we can no longer fulfil the reservation as originally booked and confirmed to you. Alternative accommodation has been offered in accordance with our terms & conditions as follows:

The The Vime La Reserve de Marbella is located in Marbella. The alternative is approximately 13 km away from the original. You will receive 2 one bedroom apartments on the same board basis.

The detailed description of this property can be viewed here:

    http://www.alpharooms.com/vime_la_reserva_de_marbella_in_marbella.aspx

    What are your options?

    • You can accept the alternative accommodation detailed above at no additional costs.

    • We can offer you a full refund of your accommodation should you choose not to proceed with this change.

If resort transfers have been booked through Alpharooms to coincide with this booking, the necessary amendment will be actioned on your behalf and a new transfer voucher will be issued.

I would be grateful if you could confirm how you wish to proceed by way of return email, at which stage this will be actioned and updated paperwork will be forwarded to you. However, if you would like to discuss this matter further please do not hesitate to contact us on 0114 251 5092

Please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause but trust that it will not detract from the overall enjoyment of your stay in Marbella.

    Yours sincerely,
    Sylwia
    Alpharooms.com

To update us please reply to this email rather than call. This will ensure your problem gets dealt with promptly

The alternative accomodation is actually a kip compared the hotel we originally booked. It seems convenient that they left it to just 1 week before our trip to tell us they were cancelling the booking due to an apparent 'linking error'
My partner has now just spoken to the hotel and they have no record of any reservation for our party there at all ever!
Our flights are booked and we now cannot get a decent hotel for less than 3k (original cost approx 1,300)

I cannot stress enough - STAY CLEAR OF ALPHAROOMS.COM.

Are they not regulated? I'd report them. They're supposed to provide you with an alternative at the same standard you booked at as far as I know. Wouldn't let them away with it.

Has anyone had any experience with them ?
I booked a hotel the other day and was charged the usual €1 deposit.
I needed to change the booking and on their site they tell you to make a new booking and the old one will be cancelled.
I done this but have not received a conformation email and have not heard back from them after i sent them an email.
I have a confirmation number from the updated booking but it doesn't show up on their site.
I just checked my online banking and I've been charged four times for these bookings.

It's my first time using them so a bit worried that the hotel has not been booked but i may get charged as they have my card details.

Never had any trouble like this using other hotel sites

    Thanks,

When i clicked on modify booking it said to make a new booking and the old one would be automatically cancelled and the deposit refunded.
I was logged in when i done this.

    Thanks,

Just merged your thread with another there.

I have to tell you not to make anymore changes. Phone them on (01) 903 0070 okay and explain. Inform them of your bank charges (that you may need your bank to reverse for you if they won't).
They take the €1 deposit as they state your booking is not confirmed until they've contacted your accommodation to confirm and some of those require full payment in advance.

Was it 4x €1 or 4full payments. Did you try change booking thereby creating 4new bookings 4times?
If so, just wait until Monday and give them time to make the necessary changes/adjustments.
~ Just don't do anymore until Monday.
~ Speak with the accommodation yourself.
~ Phone alpharooms also about this and your refunds.

    Thanks,
    kerry4sam

    Thanks

I only made two payments, the first was the initial booking then i needed to change it so as per their instructions i made a new booking.
It was just the deposit i paid.
The full balance is due two weeks before i arrive.
Have no idea how they have charged the deposit four times though, i'll phone them up on Monday.
I have a new card aswell so might activate that which will cancel the old one incase anything goes wrong.

^^^ Hopefully you won't have to resort to the piece in bold above :) Let us know how you get on Please. Interested in this.
Just give them time to make the necessary changes/adjustments and by afternoon Monday they would have notification of your bookings at which point should be in a position to assist.

Hope it gets sorted soon for you,

    Thanks,

I've emailed them so i have some sort of paper trail if anything goes wrong.
I was able to get the second booking confirmation by going back through my browser history.
The reason i never got a confirmation email was because i left one letter out of my email address.

I'll let you know if i hear back.

Right they have just got back to me and they have charged me 34 sterling for modifying the booking.
It said I could modify for free.
Going to have to phone them, this has been a disaster

Arrived last night about 12am due to delayed flight to be told that only one room had been booked despite me paying in advance for two .
It's the last thing you want to hear when you arrive especially after a delay in Dublin airport.
Hotel staff where great and they managed to get us a room for the night then we had to check out today and move to original room after everything was sorted.
    I'll never use alpharooms again.
    Disaster from the start
