I always enjoyed listening to streaming radio whilst working on my PC. However now that I have moved to MacOS, I cannot seem to get RTE radio streaming to work - is it windows only? Anyone got it to work on SL?

You need the Mac version of Real Player. Choosing the "Play in a stand-alone player" option works for me.

For radio, I think you are better off using the Windows Media stream. You'll probably need Flip4Mac or Perian to play it. But it's more reliable in my experience.

RealPlayer is a piece of sh*t. It never works properly for me. In all seriousness, I actually prefer Flash over it - even if it uses up a 100 percent CPU and freezes your browser, at least it works. RealPlayer, on the other hand, is just useless crap. RTE need to join the 21st century and ditch it already.

Must say I have always used Realplayer without major problems. Now I do get random disconnection and am on a fast wired network. I am listening to RTE1 at the moment without issues. I have it setup just to use HTTP (under transport tab) and it works without selecting stand alone mode.

You can also use an app like Snowtape which (IIRC) uses the Windows Media stream. It's $20 for the full version, but the demo doesn't restrict streaming. There is a limit on how long you can record for.
