Quick question about engagment ring price

    Hello

Quick enough question. I was told from someone they bought a 2.3carat engagement ring from a place, in Wexford i think, called Bridget Greenes.

Does anyone know of this place, or anything about it? I was told this cost just €8,000 which i find difficult to believe (dont know anything about band or quality of diamond).

Is this possible for a decent ring? Say platinum band and G colour vs2 clarity? It seemed very difficult for me to believe, the price seems so low.

Also was told this ring was subsequently valued at €20k?! Or that kind of a bargain even plausible?

Thank you very much in advance. The reason i ask is im about to buy a tiffany ring in NY for about the same money. I'm getting just below a carat for the above specs and realise that if i went to Hanikens or somewhere id get the same ring for about €3k cheaper. I'm happy with that markup and also realise for my €8k i could get a 1.3c in Hanikens.

But i never imagined for that money over 2c would be possible?

And thoughts greatly appreciated - sorry maybe not as quick as i thought!

ive done a search but can't find any record of them and have now no chance of talking to the person again who told me.

is that price for 2c even feasible?

Does anyone know what the average carat ring size is in ireland, for professionals?

well if the specifiction was horrible and it was a lot of small stones then perhaps.

if this person is claiming they got a 2.3 carrat solitare for that price I just dont believe it. Is it certified ?

i would have said this sounds like a treated diamond if there wasnt a valuation attached. I just cant see why a stone valued at 20k would be sold for 8

Agreed with D3PO. Unless it's an eyesore, then there's no way they got a legit 2.3c solitaire for €8k.

    Colour G, VS2 clarity? €20k sounds about right. You'd just about get a 1c for €8k I'd say.

He's probably leaving some information out. Is the ring possibly 2nd hand? These are usually much cheaper.
