What is current pricing for 08 Jag XF

Previously posted here about 6 months ago but Jaguar have announced that they are bringing out a new model next year so was hoping that prices may be back in line.

Are they still going for the kind of money dealers seem to be asking even though all of the new range will have lower emissions and higher spec?

Have a budget of about €32k and will be buying straight without any trade in but dont see anything available at that level and dealers seem to be holding out to prices around the €40k mark for both 2.7 and 3.0 litre models.

Don't think you'll get one with that budget at the minute, unless you go the UK route.

There is a demand for them out there, as they seem to be considered a bit better than the run of the mill 530d.

There won't be a new model next year, well not a full new XF anyway. It will get a mid life facelift but its not a new model.

In terms of (diesel) engines, the 2.7 is v good its very smooth and refined and has plenty of go. The new 3.0 however is much better. It comes in two states of tune too - the more powerful version is genuinely rapid.

Get the 270 bhp 3.0 td!!!!

Its much more powerful, more economical, and I believe falls into the tax band below the 2.7. :D


2.7 = 204 hp
3.0 low boost = 237 hp


Edit; yes:
the 2.7 is 199 gCO2 so its band F (tax = €1000 odd/yr)
the 3.0 is 179 gCO2 so its band E (tax = €600 odd/yr)

Also if you are going to the UK, the VRT will be cheaper as its based on CO2!

Has anyone managed to purchase an XF closer to 32k than 40k?

Seems like UK is the more likely route although to getting a more reasonable cost even with a hefty VRT charge

Was hoping to "buy Irish" and that the fact that we are now nearing the end of the year that some half decent deals would emerge.

The 08 XF I originally posted a thread on a few months ago is still sitting on the dealers (crowded) forecourt and they are holding out for circa €40k.

There are a couple on carzone at around 36/37k. Id say there is alot of room for movement in those prices for a striaght sale given that they dont seem to be shifting. Im sure 33/34 should be possible

IMO you need to go to the UK

VRT will be expensive, around €12-15k for a early 08 in "Premium Luxury" spec with 20k miles (need to check)

As you can see the VRT is the killer so it will be very hard to find one even locally around the €32k mark at the moment.

I like the XF for the sole reason that it's miles better looking than the A6/5/E.

I could probably wait a little while and increase the budget by a few thousand over a three month period .... and that may be the solution.

UK route looks like the value option from what has been posted here.

Asking price on this one is not a million miles from your budget. should be worth seeing what they will let it go for with no trade in. Not too many folks walking in with €30k plus ready to buy so you never know it could be closer to your budget than you think.

Spent the last 4 days keeping a lookout for XFs and only spotted one !


Are they likely to have a lousy resale value in 4-5 years time if there are so few of them about despite being around for almost 3 years ?
