Just got an extra large tub of pixk'n'mix in Tescos for a fiver. Not too shabby. Good selection, as well. Tescos in Maynooth.

you mean it was a pre-packaged tub of pick n mix or you actually picked and mixed 740g of different sweets/jellies yourself?

Just wondering as I much prefer the sweets in the ones where u DIY compared to those pre-packaged tubs which can have some crap in 'em.

Whatever the f**k you want into them. I put smarties, fudge, a snake, white mice, etc, into it.

if you went all smarties you'd probably get over a kilo

Yup. Could've got more in if I tried, but meh.

Placed right next to the checkouts, it'll be hell for parents with kids. Actually, kids will probably be taking freebees from the lower "shelves", so ugh

    gonna get sick...........

got a massive tub and shared it with three people, the trick is put the jelly sweets at the bottom then squish them with your fist - chocolate ontop and then get solids like snakes for the top - don't use a lid

    ^^pro

The white chocolate ones, or the brown chocolate ones?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,190 ✭✭✭✭Basq

You can buy Jazzies in a lot of Garages (my local Essso does them).

Don't think I've ever seen Pick'N'Mix on offer in the Tesco in Sligo.. but I'll have a look in tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,159 ✭✭✭✭phasers

They have giant bags of jazzies in €2 shops

    Drool!

I managed to get 910grms into the giant tub...... I felt a bit guilty- the sides of the container were all bulging out, but hey- I'm sorted for giant fizzy cola bottles for the forseeable future......... It was the assistant manager who was on the till (Dundrum) don't think he was too impressed....... Tough.......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,190 ✭✭✭✭Basq

This wasn't in the Sligo store! :(

Think its only in the larger stores- its not in Lucan or Celbridge.......
If you're around Maynooth/Dundrum/Clarehall etc- might be an idea to pop in. Don't go for the fuel in any of the locations- they aren't competitive at the moment for some reason?

I found them in the store:) unfortuntely nearly every container was empty:(
No pigging out on pic and mix for me today.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,096 ✭✭✭✭the groutch

went for it today, but fell a bit short, only 800g, but I didnt squash it down as much as I could have, put in jelly babies which might have left some air pockets, and put alot of choc raisins on top which were a bit light

anyway, here's the photos, these are full size dinner plates btw:

    jellies (550g)

    sweets001.jpg?t=1281981048

    and choc raisins (250g)

    sweets002.jpg?t=1281981377

next time I'll go all sweets, and really squash them in, try break the magic kilo mark (I'm sure it's possible)

I'd say its possible- a different challenge would be to do it, and manage to put the lid on the container....... Also- you can only hit the really high weights with Jelly- I really have to see what one full of smarties comes to :D
